This will be the my first mid power two stage. Kind of,Sure I've done the black powder staged rockets. But I never have flown one with AP. motors. I built one once before that I never liked how I set it up for the altimeter. So it fell by the wayside
I just wanted to gain a little better building techniques. This rocket will use the 29mm-120/40 motors for the booster section. the sustainer will fly on the 24mm. pro-motors. I'm going with motor deployment. The timer is a perfectflite mini-4. The booster is the Estes BT-55 tube 1-3/8" od. I'll have one layer of carbon fiber sleeve on the Booster. This makes it so the Od. of the retainer lines up with the Od. of the body tube. Then I have enough room in the estes BT-55 coupler tube for the timer.
This last pic. shows how I did the reducer for the sustainer. I cut a full length coupler tube BT-55 so that when I glass the outside,I'm not taking the chance of crushing the tube with the shrink wrap.
