I'm visiting the in-laws for a week in Maryland, and my price of a trip to the Udvar-Hazy is being payed tomorrow. So if you need pictures of something that is on display there for a scale project you are working on let me know by tomorrow morning (Friday) and I will try to get some for you.

Please check to see that the item you are intersted in is on display. A searchable list can be found here: https://https://airandspace.si.edu/collections/objects.cfm. NOTE: this list contains items at the DC air and space also, which I won't be getting to this time.

I'm not making any guarantees of photographic quality, but I'll try to get helpful photos within my point and shoot abilities.

Have fun! My kids love it there. Although, their least favorite part is when I try to slow down long enough to take pictures for scale projects. Hmmm, maybe I should take you up on your offer! Just kidding. Seriously - I live 30 mins away.

One tip - I believe you can get your parking validated, such that you can drive out, eat lunch/dinner elsewhere, then go back for more. Just something to consider as an alternative to the Big Ron's (McDonalds) that they have there.

If you're around on Saturday, and anxious for a rocket fix, NOVAAR (https://novaar.org) has a launch in The Plains (Exit 31 off I-66).

I won't be there, though. Starting on my trip to London to see Monty Python. I figure that's sufficient reason to miss one launch.

To bad I just saw this looking to do a half scale BLU 27B o well

I've posted the pics for the Rheintochter R1 along with comments about them to try to make up for the bad photography in a new thread: https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?67542-Rheintochter-R1-Pictures-and-Comments

I also took multiple pics of three other missiles and a weird rocket I hadn't heard of before, which I will post threads for in the Scale section over the next week or so:
Ruhrstahl X-4
RIM-8J Talos
ASAT (Antisatellite Missile)
F-23 Ramjet Research Vehicle

Also, this is why everyone should see the Udvar-Hazy...this is what you see when you walk in the door:

Udvar is cool.jpg

Is there a cooler one-two punch than an SR-71 and an actual space shuttle (Discovery)?
