Finishing papered fins?

I've see the recent threads about papering fins. So now, how do you all finish your papered fins? For lack of a proper printer to print decals, I printed on regular paper and glued on the decal. Now how to protect it as it is not being painted? Will spraying (lightly) with several coats crystal clear work?

After you apply the decal on the painted surface, just clear coat over it with matte or gloss. Hopefully the propellant won't dissolve the adhesive back into a solution causing it to peel off.
