Basswood Trim on Clearance at Hobby Lobby

I was at Hobby Lobby looking for trim pieces for a 4-H project and all of their small basswood trim was on clearance, marked down to almost half price. I don't know if this means that they won't be carrying it any longer, are going to a different supplier, etc. The balsa wasn't on clearance, nor were the larger basswood pieces.

My daughter will need to cut a lot of small pieces from a 1/8 x 3/16 piece. How would you suggest going about that? It seems easy to cut but she really needs to keep the ends square for this project.

I like to use an X-acto miter box with a very fine-toothed jeweler's saw. The box has grooves in the bottom that common dimensioned balsa fit into to reduce tear-out.
