Too subtle?

was editing a Doom map(adding a 'secret exit'), and got to wondering if perhaps I was too subtle in my signage. pictures show the before the reveal trigger and after triggering the reveal.

I played some Doom and Doom 2. My interest in first person shooters stopped there.
 
I thought most DooM secrets aren't marked. You get to go along every wall looking for them. ;( ... I have no idea if there was supposed to be a clue in that picture, I don't see it, unless it's the whole odd alcove.

I never liked DooM as much as Quake (1). Note people are still making levels and stuff for Quake, including some of the best ever devised, e.g. https://celephais.net/board/

I didn't want people to find it before they found the normal exit, the door etc. only opens after one crosses over a couple of trigger lines in front of the normal exit door. also gave me a chance to play with a potential 'monster closet' effect.
