The parts look great and if you use ABS with acetone vapor polishing it should be smooth enough, plus ABS is easy to paint and glue too.

I'll second the Acetone smoothing... Also for a realistic Estes plastic part sheen, sanding it with 400 grit sandpaper seems to create a close bare plastic match.
