OpenRocket won't open

When I try to run OR, it asks what program do I want to use to open it. Shouldn't it just open? just upgraded to Win7. have java 8
 
Not always, you'll have to pick java from the list. If you don't have java, you'll have to download. If you have java and it still doesn't want to work, sometimes deleting it and reinstalling jumpstarts it.
 
Did all that, selected java from list, it opened on the sixth try lol. works now, thanks. but it's not showing any of the 3d views. vid card is updated. 3d graphics enabled in OR prefs.
 
sounds a bit like your directx(d3d) isn't running properly, have you tried running any 3d video games lately as a test?
