Today at Hobby Lobby, my oldest got a Ventris and I got a Leviathan.

Both were at clearance: at about $35.

I thought the deal was too good to pass up.

Nice Greg! I scored an Estes Leviathan at HL in central Fl. The rocket was marked down from 57.00 bucks to 35.00 and I had a 40% coupon (my wife did). This is where it got weird, we got to the register and they took and additional 30 % off of the price before we presented the 40% coupon. I though they would not take it, but they did! Estes Leviathan 15 buck and change! There were two, so I just looked and they will be open tomorrow and I have to return some spray paint that did not work. I hope the other Leviathan is there so I can carry it home!!!!

Go Hobby Lobby!!

Wow! That is a LOT of rocket for just $15, a tremendous deal!

I did spend an hour with my oldest working on his Ventris. We got the MMT and CR's all glued up and installed in the lower airframe. He's excited that we made a lot of progress in a short time. It's the first Pro Series I have made and it's been a pretty straight forward build, with the good quality that we expect from Estes. Can't beat time spent with children working on rockets.

Finally!

Here is my oldest's Ventris ready for it's maiden flight on an AeroTech E25-5T. Launch weight was about 750 grams. That motor is at the lower limit for this launch weight, and I'm glad that I took a little off on the delay element.

It flew a second time, but on a G64-7W. It took off like a shot! However, the delay element look like it only lasted 3 or 4 seconds, and the airframe suffered a severe jolt. I'm very thankful that we fiberglassed the airframe or it could have really kinked the airframe.

I was in Santa Fe, NM this past week and they had two Ventrises on the clearance rack (and two QCC Explorers). I meant to get back to the store and grab at least one of the QCCs but that was overcome by events.....so they may still be there.

Other rocket stuff on clearance (at the other end of the scale) are bulk boxes of 1/2A3-4Ts. That's true here at the Federal Way, WA store as well.

Huh...it doesn't look like the have a single Hobby Lobby in the entire state of Massachusetts, I wonder why? There does look to be one near Providence, so the next time I go to visit my relatives I will definitely have to stop by.

They weren't supposed to... but occasionally you find a (usually young and distracted) cashier that doesn't know they're not supposed to take the 40% off coupon on already discounted items and they apply the coupon anyway, and you get a ridiculously good deal...

Later! OL JR :)

Yep, it even says so on the coupon but I've gotten the discount more often than not on clearance items. If they had a computerized inventory system they would probably catch this but they are relying on their checkers to know what's what with every item in the store. Apparently a clearance price tag isn't enough to make sure that happens.

When I checked their site a few weeks back, they showed one in Holyoke. Unless I didn't read closely enough and it's "coming soon".

I stopped by the Warwick, RI store on Saturday. They had some of the 29mm Es and Fs as well as two of the new PSII E2X kits. They had a couple of Leviathans and some LPR stuff on the clearance rack. I grabbed a couple of packs of the motors, but I left some for others. I got a chance to launch a couple on Sunday in Maine. Nice motors.

When I was at the Manchester, NH store a couple of weeks back, they didn't have any PSII stuff on the racks or on clearance. They did have the spaces reserved for the new stuff, though.
