Picked it up at the Kloudbuster's AIRFest last year and will actually get to launch it at this years AIRFest in a couple weekends.

My first fiberglass kit. Used traditional methods to build. An easy intro into fiberglass. I used epoxy to assemble and some two part epoxy clay for the fillets. After they were sanded down I went back over fillets with the cream body filler to get them smooth. I like how they turned out.

Rocket is red though it seems to appear orange in pics, must be the goofy lighting. I used chrome trim to accent the fins.

Don't know which motors I will try first. Seems it performs nicely on G's according to Thrustcurve. Sub 1000ft to out of sight. Doubt it matters what color a rocket this size is at close to 2000ft.

Parachute is still in the works. I picked out one but think it will be a bit too large if I go for the higher power motors. Will see what I can find at the event.

So if you are thinking about getting into fiberglass rockets, this one is about as easy as it gets. Use proven methods and it builds solid and will be a nice addition to the fleet.

See ya,
Rod

Looks great, I have one still in the bag. I may adopt your paint scheme.

Hellyeah we remember it...we built one last year and it's made an appearance at every launch we've been to since then. Yours looks very nice...but you need to get some AP residue and dirt on it now, OK?

Did you add nose weight? The CP is about 1" in front of the fin root per my OR sim; if you have the plastic nosecone and are using a small motor, you should check the CP/CG locations to make sure things are stable. We added a few ounces of shot to our plastic nosecone to have a margin of safety, since we weren't concerned about setting any altitude records with the thing.

We fly ours on A/T G80's and an occasional CTI Vmax motor when we're feeling the need for even more speed.

Me and my son each bought one at LDRS31. We drag raced them on G76 motors and they really go on that motor. Somehow managed to recover both, but my sons had a tree that needed to be climbed to get it back. I wouldn't do too much of a chute on it. I think we used 12"-15" and it recovered fine. Even with that that small of the chute, they still stayed up "there" for a long time.

Yea I knew that people had these. Wildman couldn't build the kits fast enough when he released them. Might have to see about another wildman kit during AIRFest.

Mine weighs in just over a pound ready to go without motor. Will have to find the right chute. Probably pick one up at the launch.

See ya,
Rod

These little suckers fly great.
Flew mine this past Sunday on a F52 close to 1000', but made the mistake of using a 24" chute. The winds up higher took it close to a 1/4 mile away where it landed in the first tree of a very dense treed and brush area on the edge of a field. Had to borrow my parents 12" ladder and 18" tree pruner to just be able to reach and cut the branches to get it down.

Yep..Have one..Built it and flew it..And then got 'harassed' by 'not knowing better, shoot, you are an L3' when I had the shock cord tied to the little plastic loop on the nose cone! Needless to say, that little loop broke on the first flight! It came in ballistic from about 1,000' and planted itself about 3" into the soft dirt of the sod farm..Rocket gently landed about 20' away..I told the guys I did that on purpose as the nose cone was a site recon to make sure the rockets recovery area was safe!

Going to modify it now..Chop off the very back end of the cone and epoxy or 2-part foam the shock cord to the inside tip of the cone..

Hey Ken, what kind of paint/colors did you use on your Jart? Need to find some nice pink for my Piranha, haven't seen anything I like yet.

I used Rustolium Painter Touch Berry Pink, and Grape.

Pantherjon, I just did this To fasten the shock cord, but by cutting out the base and if epoxy holds against the plastic it might give room for longer motor casings.

That is a great idea, Ken! I just may do that method, as I can't find my hacksaw right now. But, I do know where my drill and bits are!

Seems to happen all the time here..The limited number of 'tools' I have seem to grow legs and run and hide when I go to use them!:eyeroll:
