Just wondering, who on here is coming to freedom launch in Orangeburg this Labor Day, or planning on it?
Also, is there a fee to launch at the field if you are 14?
I am hoping to go, but my sis's 16th bday is the day after it ends, and you can tell how excited she is about going to a launch 4 hours away...:eyeroll:

Matt

It is a ways away but I will be there. I already have an N flight planed. I will also be flying a Hypertek M and ether an Loki M2550 or Aerotech M1297. Research day I will be flying sugar K and L motors.

I will be there. I plan to launch my 10 inch nike smoke.

I'm going on Saturday for sure. May spend a night, not sure if I'd come down on Friday or stay Sat night. Too far away to know for sure, but I've already taken Thursday and Friday off work to get ready!

Of course I will be there!! Hmmm, lets see... Starleopard on a CTI/Prox M2050 Skid.Six inch Swat/VA-35 tribute rocket on a Loki M1200 Spitfire.Four inch SWAT on J360 Skid. Big Explorer(5.5) on clustered L820/2 J520 skids. Smaller Explorer(4") on ...undecided yet. I also hope to debut my new 7.5" Standard Arm on some kinda cluster.

I plan to go but it's gonna be a crap shoot with Mother Nature. It's all about the heat and humidity for me. Last year I nearly had a heat stroke and it was miserably hot. If it's not that bad this year, it'll be a go. Otherwise the ROSCO launch in October will be the alternate choice.

I plan to fly the Deuce 98. What else, who knows (not much more will fit the van :))?

I plan to be there! Looking at an M3100 in a 6",an L910 in a 4", as big a motor as I can keep under the waiver in a 54mm minimum duameter as well as a K740 in my yet to be built 4" Nike Smoke. :) I am also hoping to get some time to mix some propellant for a couple EX flights as well.

Freedom Launch is the high point of my launch calendar. I've missed it maybe twice in the past 10 years.

Freedom Launch, or Airfest? 2 hour drive, or 20? Visit my mom, or have an extra several days of downtime? A week of vacation, or a day?

I need to make a decision!!!

Cheers,
Michael

I will be at Freedom Launch. I have though about several larger launches, but this is my favorite. I will be there.

I plan on being there. Hoping to get my minimum diameter project flyable and plan on launching the patriot on an I motor, just not sure if I should go with the Loki I110, the CTI I125 or CTI I100.

Getting excited about the launch! I just picked up a couple of 75mm reloads today specifically for Freedom Launch! I hope we get a BIG crowd of flyers!

I am pretty excited myself. I have atleast 2 M rockets ready, maybe 3 if I finishe the sledgehammer.

I may be going down on Sunday or Monday. UNC Charlotte has a football game on the 31st, and the scouts are working one of the concessions. Leaning towards Monday at this point.

See y'all Saturday and Sunday...my flight docket is in the other Freedom thread. Jim, I can't wait to meet you and see your skid flights!!

Unfortunately non of my Explorers will be ready, but both SWAT's will be. I have lots of sparkies!!!

Either way I'm psyched! I'm looking forward to the Loki M sparky u mentioned in particular....haven't seen their sparkies yet. I'll be there sun/mon...hope you fly that one then;)

I am on the fence about the launch, I am about 300 miles away and I don't know what to expect?
I would love to hear if anyone out there thinks that I would be nuts to miss it.
What kind of rockets are flown, mostly low, med, or high power? Is this an all out rocket palooza?
I would be bringing my teenaged rocket crazy nephews with me, will they be blown away?
Lets hear what previous attendees have to say.

Please bring these rocket crazed nephews! I am also a rocket crazed teen!

Everything up and down the power scale. As and Bs on up through Ms. If you come to just one Orangeburg launch all year [as I do, due to a perpetual schedule conflict], Freedom Launch should be that launch. Not that the monthly launches are ho-hum snoozers [they're definitely not], but Freedom Launch brings out rocket folks from all around; regulars, non-regulars, and hermits.

Freedom Launch is the cat's a$$. It's a serious variety of stuff going up. Folks will stop in their tracks to discuss any and everything and go as far as to get to know you and vice-versa. The friendliest bunch of folks gathered in one place all with the same head set. Prolly the best sod fields to be found in this area. NOW! The down side. The humidity can be a bear on Labor Day Weekend. That with high temps can be a problem if you aren't used to it. I watch the weather forecast like a hawk. I have to. I can't handle 90+ humidity and matching temps at the same time. That's off the heat index charts. The big picture here really is what a fun bunch of folks attend this launch. If they can help you with an issue, they will. Lastly, if you tell the folks at the Days Inn you are attending the rocket launch, you get a discount.

I'd say about half the flights are A-E, the rest composite. I'm planning on flying an upscale Deuce's Wild! on a pair of Aerotech M1419's. We usually have 10 A-E pads, 10 F-J pads, 5 K-L pads and 2 or 3 M pads Rods through 1" and 10-10, 15-15, and Unistrut rails.

We could be able to have more A-E - We have 20 pads if we have enough controllers. I doubt we have a need.

Orangeburg was the site for LDRS 15 and 19 plus NSL 2008! With the exception of the Red Glare launches, Freedom Launch is one of the most anticipated and attended launches on the east coast. I have 2 M's" 2 "L's and a few clusters planned, mostly Skidmark and Spitfire loads. Definately one NOT to miss!!!

I have 2 M flights planned and one heck of a neat J-K bird. If I finish the nuclear sledgehammer, it will be 3 M flights. Of course, all is weather permitting.
