Well ,you know what I'm gonna say. JUST STUNNING-- as usual---just one question---Do you ever sleep ?? Personally I believe there are two of you and one builds while the other rests-----BTW--- Your workmanship is OUTSTANDING. You are a legend in your own time !!!

Haaa....I`m not even a legend in my own mind......or what`s left of it !

I do have cat naps after supper or after work.

NOW...Jim "Captain Low`N Slow" doesn`t sleep ,that`s a building machine LOL

This build was actually pretty simple, the fins being the most time consuming ,everything else was gravy.

...well of course there was that damn tower ....:eyeroll:

Thanks for stopping by Bill !!!

Take care

I saw a spiral or two. So I conclude you have failed. Send the rocket to me. Start over and get those spirals filled. Otherwise this could be the path to the darkside. Where no fins are rounded or beveled, no filling of spirals, no filling of wood grain... a deep dark slide into becoming..... Jim!!! :y: :y: :surprised:  :handshake:

Guess all thats could be said has been said. All that is left it to poke some fun.
I think the best thing I could say is, "Someday when I grow up, I wanna be just like you!"

Cheers!

Looks great Paul, capsule looks awesome great detail, where did you get the decals for the escape tower? You ever going to fly this?

I'm telling you, he's an alien! Everyone knows aliens never sleep.

TA

Todd ,

The decals are just small random writings I got from my spare aircraft folders from models past (I have thousands of them)

The yellow bands are Pactra pin striping.

I do plan on flying this badboy ,but I doubt i will do so with the tower on ,it was just too much work to have it get smashed ,or at least see how the first flight goes and maybe see where I go from there.

Take care

Yes,I am an alien......I was just never into the "probing" thing like the rest of `em......too cliche for me ,so I got into building rockets.

ET was into probing ! But then again , he had the fingers for it !

Shazbot Na nu na nu :dark:

Just kidding Jim!!!!
:handshake:

Oh ,you`re in big trouble now !!

That was one thing about making that 50 cal bullet rocket ,it was made of PML Quantum tubing, no spirals to fill.

A fella could get real spoiled using that stuff !

I admit ,filling spirals can be a big PITA ,and I filled and sanded those badboys twice.

I still love my BlueTube ,makes a man outta ya

That reminds me ,I have a PML AMRAAM 4 and a MadCow 4" fiberglass BlackBrant II........YEEHAW.....no spirals :horse:

Take care

Beautiful work!
It's interesting to see the tower in the correct scale diameters.
Clean masks on the fin can - the black / white separations goo right down the middle of the fin tapers.

Again - beautiful!

That means a good deal comming from you Chris, I thankyou kindly !

It was fun (mostly) using hollow and solid brass tubing and to come close to scale for the tower ,not to mention a good test of my patience.

The masking was easier than i thought it might be, I just had to make sure the patterns were correct ,so I had my sources always at the ready. The larger scale also made things a little easier I would think, and of course Tamiya Tape makes the difference IMHO.

Take care and thanks for having a look.

Slowly getting the last of the vinyl on ,but the Hellfire is taking up a lot of time and keeping me busy.

It`s getting cramped in here LOL

I used aluminum foil tape for the fin area closest to the retainer ,seems the real ones had this ,so I added it.

Here you can kinda see the bands I added using 1/8" wide Monokote ,to suggest seams in the main rocket body (saw that too somewhere)

I then used a dark pencil and ran it along both sides of the bands and blended it with my fingers,as well I added vertical seams using pencil and rubbing then out ,just to give it a slight weathering and not too heavy looking.

Cheers

Wow! Putting the bands on there really do simulate the weld seams well!

Great work!

Thanks Greg!

Yes, I was looking at picures of the rocket and noticed those weld seams and thought I wanted to add them ,but didn`t want them to be too pronounced.

I`d like to build a 6" version some day ;)

Cheers
