I am working on a playlist with a rocketry type theme. I am looking for songs that mention rocket/rockets, flying, describes the rocketry crowd, etc. I am not a big country music fan but I am open to anything. So give me some suggestions.

"Ascent" (An Ending) Brian Eno (Apollo Album) "Silver Morning" Brian Eno (Apollo Album) "Deep Blue Day" Brian Eno (Apollo) Major Tom (Coming Home) Peter Schilling

Francis Scott Key - The Star Spangled Banner ("and the rockets red glare....")

Good suggestions so far, I already had some of these on the playlist. I use spotify and can share this playlist I'm working on if anyone uses that service and is interested.

Now that is an awesome suggestions. Haha. I will add this. When I come across this on the playlist it will put a smile on my face. LOL

Higher and Higher - Moody Blues. Most of the album "To Our Children's Children's Children" is space themed.
Much of Klaatu's music is space or SF themed.

Then there are the groups - Love and Rockets, Modern Rocketry, The Bottle Rockets, and The Rocket Scientists :)

If John Denver is not too mellow for you, Flying For Me, dedicated to the crew of the Challenger.

Not really rocket related but Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds is friggen awesome. I had this one on cassette back when, I wore it out.

"Spaceman" The Killers...oh, "Come Sail Away" Styx....It's about aliens!:sigh:...

"After the Gold Rush" Neil Young

...Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun"

"Eight Miles High" The Byrds

and if you do the Star Spangled Banner, do the version by Jimi Hendrix

OK here is a link to what I have so far. I will continue to keep adding the great suggestions. If the link doesn't work let me know. For those that have spotify you can play this and if you don't have it you should be able to see what I've added so far.

The Ventures recorded an entire album of rocket/space-themed songs to commemorate NASA's 25th anniversary. I have the clear LP around here somewhere. :)

You may have to be careful of some of these songs, they may be talking about a trip, just not necessarily an interstellar trip.

Judas Priest - Invader

Brownsville Station - Martian Boogie

From the Synergy album "Audion": Orbit Five, Revolt at L-5. From "Sequencer": Phobos and Deimos Go To Mars, Full Moon Flyer, Terra Incognita

The entire album by Jon Anderson called "Olias of Sunhillow" is about a space journey of a mythical sort.

The Jean-Michel Jarre album "Rendevous", which also has a Challenger connection as it includes a piece for Ron McNair.

Glad to see the mention of "Fresh Aire V".....
