I've been meaning to do this for about a month now to use in my Fly'n High Again rocket and finally got a round-2-it Friday night.
If you have a plain ole white army surplus chute its very easy to do.You'll need a LARGE pot, if your doing a 10-15' chute, like those used for frying turkeys. For Mine I put about 3 gallons of water,1 bottle of dye, and 3 cups of white vinegar, this helps the dye take to the material.Heated it up to boiling on the stove then turned the stove back down to low.Started dropping the chute down into the water beginning with the apex of chute ending with the shroud lines.Gently push it around every few minutes for thirty minutes.Take it outside and start running water into the pot until the water coming out is clear.Hang it up to dry.If you have a "she that must be obeyed" ya better have some bleach on hand to clean the pot before she sees it.My pot turned purple but when done just filled it up with hot water and about half gallon of bleach.
Yesterday I took it out and played in the wind, the center kinda looks like a nebula in the sunlight.
