I want to do both!

Excellent! It would be wonderful to have you!

As a warning though, I have found rocketry to be (surprisingly) much less expensive*...

All the best, James

*: On a recent dive, I made the mistake of calculating costs. Woof. Helium cost as $2 per breath!

OK....seems like Beerorkid and I have to have a little chat. One of my hobbies is to restore old arcade cabinets, I also build replica cabinets for use with the MAME arcade emulators.

I'm also an avid miniature painter/war gamer (playing Dust Warfare, Warhammer 40K, Battletech, Pathfinder) and scale modeler (specializing in 1:32nd aircraft)

Awesome. I am good with the pins, but arcades drive me insaner. My rolling thunder is freezing and the trouble I went through on my Super Mario Bros monitor made me insaner. After messing with the convergance rings I almost cried.

A little cold here still to pull her out of storage..........and yes at around $120-$150 to fill it up for the day, its cheap compared to rockets!!!

Besides rockets, I'm now into model ships.

(Sorry the pics are a bit blurry.)
It's an ancient Roman Trireme, with 166 oars. Due to a miscalculation during construction, I'm actually two short. But, there would have been some significant differences between individual ships, which takes care of most of the "inaccuracies." I built it for a high school Latin club competition and won first place, so I get to go to States next month! :D (Yes, this is why I've only build one rocket in the last six months.)

AWESOME STUFF GUYS - keep em coming

Jackball74 - Very nice, I just found that my with is very good at that kind of detail stuff, maybe I can talk her into letting me share.

I also dabble in photography, theater, and golf.

I used to do pyrotechnics, but my wife made me give it up after I blew myself up ~15 years ago.

I do photography as a hobby; I learned in high school (woah, that was 4 years ago!) on regular ol' ISO 400 color film in manual focus cameras. Now I use a Canon 60D with the old Contax lenses adapted to it, but I still crave the rich colors and highlight rendering I got from film.

That gets to another hobby: programming. I am working with a high school friend on a program which straight-up simulates film development, combining the best parts of film with the best parts of digital. When it gets to a more feature complete state, we'll open-source it.

I also play cello.

cool.I have been watching that show "Diggers" on TV about metal detecting

Collecting firearms (Oh Lord, don't let this thread get locked 'cause I shoot), self defense shooting, target shooting, want to get in to action shooting events and start hunting again..
Reloading ammo, have a new shipment of primers coming in so I can get back up and running soon.

Those are some of the things I omitted from my post above. You should get into Cowboy Action and use the alias "Llama Layne". LOL!

Thanks guys! :) It definitely turned out to be worth all the hard work-- I'm just glad to get back to building nice, easy rockets. (Although, there is that wooden spaceship that needs building )

...and jump out of "perfectly good" airplanes...

Is that you.....under a John Eiff "Classic" square?

Disc Golf.

Hey, I like to do that too! Don't get to do it as much with the kids playing sports and I work till 6pm or so. A friend and I used to work together and get off at like 3:30 and play a quick 18. That was before marriage and kids. Once in a while we'll get out and play on a Sunday afternoon or something. Wish I could have gone to see the Worlds last year when they were here, we had our week at the beach that same week.

RC... you name it, I've done it, but mostly cars. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, dropped multiple 10's of thousands of dollars in RC since 1988. DONE!!
Shooting, pistol and rifle. Reloading too. Just target shooting.
Computers, Currently have 4 desktops, 2 laptops, and 2 Home Theater PC's. I built the desktops, bought the laptops. Always something in need of something!
Woodworking, just dabble.
World of Warcraft... (Where the &#@*$ did the last 4 years go?!?!?!) DONE!!!
Drag racing, stock car racing, shade tree mechanic on all four of the family vehicles.
Home Theater

Currently, besides rockets, my daughter is getting into Dwarf Car racing, son is about to get into Motocross.
Can't WAIT until my wife is done with her Master's degree and starts on her career!!! One income SUCKS!

Grim, quit being modest
You best post up a pick of that beautiful 1/8th Scale Boat - along with one of the Corvette rocket next to the Vette - Or at VERY least one of "the Hobby shop" Not just the Heli's

Like a lot of folks here , I dabble in a lot of stuff. Nowadays I stay glued to rockets and fishing/just being outside. Models, trains, HO racing,painting/art,flying , are all sort of fill ins these days ,given lifes little bumps. Passions, spoiling my Lab and Wolf mix, keeping mom happy, building a nice-different rocket, tossing a line in the water and enjoying a little me time---in no particular order----BTW, if you need a slick-------black paint job on your car----that includes the body work needed--I'm your guy ! As well, as anyone old school who wants to make some real power in a Pontiac--455,428,421,400,389,350,326,even that little 301---I'm expensive and I'm slow--har-har

Ron,
We have looked at a legend car a couple of weeks ago for my son. Are you guys running the Yamaha 1200?

Scale models. Aircraft, armor, a special place in my dark soul for Sci-Fi.

That's me, #5 of the Pacemakers, I'm proud to have John as a teammate. The parachute is one of the very few, hand-made by John himself (not staffed out to the ladies) "signature models". IIRC the photo was shot during an accuracy competition at Verona, Italy.

All the best, James

One thing that suc.....um I mean stinks is the before & after for most hobbies/ fun activities:mad:
Flying (real A/C or r/c), rockets, shooting sports, and I am sure many more, it takes just as much time to get ready/prep and cleanup after the fun as it does the the actual fun. Much like military aircraft, the ratio is like 8 hours of manpower maintenance for 1 hour of flying. :surprised:
Not griping mind you, but IMHO it is a law of nature, kind of like if a food is good for you it doesn't taste good:eyepop:
