Whats everybody doing? Im personally going to cook dinner and drive up to surprise my gf when she gets out of her 9 PM class. Already got her a necklace and a new iPod touch, and I bought two CTI Pink motors for a drag race soon. It got me wondering what everyones plans were, I know someone who's going to propose and another person who is going to say bah humbug at the very mention of Valentines day. Maybe I even reminded a few people who forgot? :roll eyes: anyways what are you doing this thursday?

I try to stay single between Oct. 30th and Feb. 15th. A lot less traveling and easier on the wallet.

Cant say I blame you there... I have valentines day, a birthday, and our anniversary within 4 weeks of each other.

This Valentines day is my/our 10th anniversary too... Went a little overboard and got her a gold heart with diamonds.

I get a limited pass at my next trip to the hobby store.

I will spend from 7am to 10pm at college so I will probably not see her, but I plan on buying flowers Wednesday hopefully (my last class is out at 10pm ugh) and writing a card and leaving them on her doorstep Thursday before I head to school.

My mom alerted me that the 99cent store has V-day balloons. On the fence with that one. Have to leave improvement for next year right?

I'm as single as one could be. I might have a date depends on if she has to work or not.
I've managed to be single on Valentines day all but 4 Valentine days my entire life.

I'm not big on relationships. I have a very difficult time staying committed. Most of my love life has been short flings. I'm or she depending how you view it is lucky for it to last more then a month.

Zip nilch nada. The stable half agrees as much as I do that it's no more than another Hallmark holiday aimed at guilting people into spending.

Nothing. My wife does not care for Valentines day. I make lots of gestures through out the year. There is no need to celebrate our love on February 14th. We celebrate it every day.

I think you have the right idea that everyday should be cherished and your better half appreciated.
That said my better half has informed me that, as expressed in another thread, "HELL'S COMMING!! " if we don't celebrate Valentine's Day.

I will be leaving for America for 9 weeks this Valentines day. Probably the worst present I could give my girlfriend :sad::sad::eyeroll:

But also I will be in America for 9 weeks so that is also pretty cool

Flowers from a nice shop in town, a pendant necklace matching earings she has, but no dinner plans: she works Valentine's night. We'll go out on Saturday, presuming the sitter doesn't cancel...

I agree it's the gestures through the year that really matter, but my wonderful wife really doesn't like feeling left out...

My wife won't let me buy her stuff like jewelry or flowers. She will accept a box of candy, though, and she'll make me eat half of it.

I don't do Valentine's Day -- I set that precedent from the first year we were dating. To me, buying Deb flowers on a Hallmark Holiday is an empty gesture. It means a lot more when I buy her flowers, or something else, because I thought of her, and wanted to do it.

....though this year, she got a water heater. The gift of hot water keeps me out of hot water. :)

I was single and I enjoyed it and I'm in a relationship and I also enjoy it. I guess the secret is finding someone you can be around and live with. I've been with my girlfriend 17 months or something like that and we never got in a fight and there's no drama whatsoever. On the holidays we set limits on what we spend and the relationship is never one sided, which is nice. What I like is she likes going to launch rockets with me, but not to involved with the actual building process. She doesn't have that kind of mind set to build rockets, but wish she did.

I will be single this Valentines Day, for the 25th time. I'll probaly have a few beers and spin some Alice in Chains records on the turntable. The song Rotten Apple from the Jar of Flies EP is an excellent Valentines Day song, IMO. Probably my best Valentines Day story was from 2009. My ex had broken up with me about two weeks beforehand, with no explanation beyond "I just don't like you that way". My university's library had a nice collection of classic and forign films, so I figured I'd distract myself with some films. That Valentines Day, I found myself watching Ivan the Terrible.

Ouch....
:bangpan:

Yeah... her explanation two years later was "I was just using you to make my freinds jealous, and looking back, I feel really shallow for treating you that way." That explained a lot. It sure didn't feel great, but I was glad she told me. It made things much easier to swallow...

I will be proposing to my GF.

Not on Feburary 14th, but in the month of Feburary. I cannot post the exact date here, she might be watching :)

I got used once. It hurt when I found out. I was in L-O-V-E! She broke it off, then decided she missed me. Too late. Too bad, so sad, she use to say, I got those last words in. Saw her again two years ago, she was getting a divorce. She asked me for a date and I said let me see if the wife minds. I wish I got a pic of her face then.

I don't do valentines day either, our anniversary is on February 2nd, how much romance can you fit into one short month? Seriously though the wife sees it as a manufactured holiday, she doesn't like flowers or jewelry and prefers her candy in bar form, however she would appreciate a gift of electronics. I already told her that she isn't getting the 70 inch TV she wants. I'm a big meany.

If my wife wanted a larger TV set, she'd have it in about an hour.

We have a 50" plasma, but it's 1080i not the current standard 1080p. It's 7 years old. I'm a home theater geek in my other life, and the fact that it's not the standard HTPC resolution causes me some issues that I'm a little OCD about.

However, I'm not about to take on ~$1000 in debt just to have a nicer TV screen. My priorities are elsewhere. I can deal with it. But if the WIFE wanted it, I'd "do it for her!"

Rissa has me on a scavenger hunt. She has Hershey Kisses with Almonds taped to a card. Each card gives a clue on who has the next card. First clue was texted to me. "Say Hi to the Librarian." Librarian gave me a card that said something like "Andrea is so Bubblie!" So I went to Andrea. She gave me the next card that says "Oh its Doug, oh wait, Wrong Doug." Doug's said "I think you need to buy some books in the bookstore from Mrs Rine." Hers said "Lynford sure likes to play games with us." Lynford gave me a clue but according to rissa he altered it. I'm supposed to see Jen for the next clue. Going have to wait till tomorrow :D

Now I can't say everything I plan to do or give her on Valentines Day (just in case shes lurking) but I can say I plan to take her out Thursday night :).

I tried to get my crush a rose delivered to her at school even though we don't go to the same high schools, and without success.

Which sucks, because I know she likes me!

I went to Halmark, got my girlfriend some chocolates and a card. Then I used her method of gift giving, so I went to Walgreen's and got a bunch of random stuff that she would get a good laugh at :)

My wife wants to go see A Good Day To Die Hard on Valentine's Day. :D
