The one and only eyebolt I recall being in my kit was used through the upper centering ring as an attachment point for the recovery gear.

If I don't do anything else special with a nosecone like that, I'll often drill two holes through the bottom of the nosecone and fish some kevlar through it. I then use that loop of kevlar as a more durable point to attach to the nose than the plastic loop. In the case of my Piranha, I am cutting off part of the nosecone base so that I can make a compartment inside the nose for holding my tracker on more ambitious flights.

My Piranha is nearing completion. Probably won't fly for a couple of weeks though. Needs paint and then I have some vinyl coming from Stickershock for it. :)

Oh of course! I'm an idiot. I built it a while ago now and I completely forgot that I epoxied the shock cord to the motor mount instead of using the eyebolt.

Your Piranah looks great in the stock colors . My nephew came up with this Red Angry Bird in Space design. The face decal for the nose is not on yet, I plan on geting a better color match on the nose first. It has 4oz of nose weght and was a nice lob of a flight with a F50-6. Wrap was from stickershock.

Here's mine all finished:

Just wondering what you guys used for motor retention....looks like robert used an estes, any issues with the fit? Jim and GJ, what did you guys use?

For motor retention on mine I used one of the Estes 29mm retainers. It took a bit of sanding with my dremel to the inner diameter of the retainer and a bit to the outside of the motor tube to get it to fit. It ended up fitting like a glove and is held on with JB Weld. My build is finished, but I am still painting it so she hasn't flown yet. The Estes 29mm retainers are silly cheap and work great on every rocket I've used them on so far. :)

Mrs. OD is an Angry Birds fanatic and gives it two thumbs up.

Thanks Jim. I'll have to hit up Hobbylinc and order a few.

the estes one took a fair amount of sanding, remember it is a lot easier if done before putting it together. I used it for the look. I normally put an aeropack on everything.

Very nice work....

How much was the decal? You got it from Mark right?

Yeah, I got it from Mark. I think it was $7

I did a cutout on the top CR and epoxied the nylon to the engine tube.

I had Mark customize my decal.

All the movies I've seen there is never just one, but a whole swarm of these critters

So, from the watery depths comes
