Nice one Scottie !

How high did your LOC-IV fly on the H100 ?

-- kjh( the LOC-IV was one of my favorite rockets to watch back in the day )
1702’. Flight was beautiful, short recovery. Recovery distance was partially aided by the chute not deciding to open until roughly 500’. Apparently a packing issue, my guess is stickiness in the nylon. Ironically I was planning to try out a JLCR on that flight, but was discouraged from doing so by my very smart friends at the field.

I strongly recommend the LOC IV as an L1 cert rocket. Teaches L1 build techniques within an appropriate degree of difficulty.

Almost 11 years later.... This Is my LVL2 Cert Flight at LDRS-41 a few days ago.

This one also flew very nice.
Had an anomaly with the Jolly Logic Chute Release, the main inflated at about 4800 FT.
Recovery was a mile away, outside the park.
Thank God my BRB900 took me RIGHT to it... in the tree.

AT M2100G
Thanks @KB4SMK

I just now added the RMS 98/7680 M2100G to my sim-list for my Level 3 4-inch Vulcanite upscale ( El Mui Grande Vulcanite ).

I already own an RMS 98/10240 Motor Set and a big box of 25-year-old components for my Level 3 build.

I had planned on an M1939-W for my Level 3.

But after seeing your pictures, if there was also a certified RMS 98/10240 motor with mojave green propellant, I would seriously consider that as well ...

Maybe some day there will be one I could fly ...

In the meantime, I am going to have to try the 'green' in a couple of my smaller rockets -- I really liked the flame and smoke off the pad from your flight !

Thanks again !

level 3 cert darkstar extreme with m1550r. 14,100 altitude and only landed less than a mile away.

I love the Green however they are hard to light.

Nice paint job @tywain !

I like the thrust profile on the RMS 76/6400 M1550-R.

Thanks for the photos.

How did you get the birds-eye point-of-view on the last, lift off photo ?

Congratulations !

-- kjh
We have a hill that we was standing on that made it look like that. Thanks on the paint job, I have a couple of them darkstars painted like that.

Can you hear them whistle when they coast ?

I've got a fleet of beat up LOC Vulcanite scale models but none of them are, if they ever were, as pretty as your covey of DarkStars :)

@DEmery --

VERY NICE !

I love the the way the Iris flies and yours is a beauty !

What were your Mass and Diameter and what Altitude did you get on an M1939 ?

-- kjh

p.s. I couldn't bear to get rid of my 4-inch LOC-tubed Scratch Iris when it came down on an Ocotillo Rockpile and broke a fin.

It's waiting patiently in the attic for a repair and more K550 Flights !

Well I ended up going for my L1 cert last weekend at URRG in NY on 11/4. Used an Aerotech H135W-14A, odd ejection happened early but still was given the certification per rules. Theres a build thread with much more detail, flight video below.
