I am reading a book by Joseph E. Persico entitled "Piercing the Reich: the penetration of Nazi Germany by American secret agents during World War II".
On p. 87, he makes reference to a joke that was going around among facetious Germans regarding the invention and implementation of the V-5, a "giant submarine made of India rubber which would circle the English coast until Britain was erased."
Now, aside from being a silly pun, I am wondering what the German name of the V-5 was. The Germans called the V-2 an A4. V-1 was the bomber, V-3 was the long range gun. What was the V-4? Now we know that the V-5 was a submarine!
Time to rewrite the history books....
