I had posted about this earlier but finally had a successful flight last week so decided it was time to post a thread...

As many people know, the "Cherry Blossom" (or Baka Bomb, depending on the side of the Pacific you live on) was a rocket-powered human-guided kamikaze attack aircraft employed by Japan during WWII.

I decided to create the Model 22 version of the Ohka since it had more details (like the rear side intakes). This was a challenging model to keep scale and achieve stability.

My earlier version flew stable but arched over the top and crashed (the boat tail setup moves the engine nozzle downwards and tails are on top - guess wings and rear intakes being lower did not counteract enough). Here is my first flight where the plane embraced its original mission a bit too much:

So I canted the engine 5 degrees in this version and that made a huge difference and it was much more stable / flew straighter (also canted engine did not detract from the look). Here is the revised version.

Here is the latest flight. This was an exciting flight. I lost the rocket in the clouds but you can see some of the swoops and spirals at the start which continued up for the few hundred feet of its flight. It kept going up, just seemed like it was dogfighting with an unseen opponent:
