In my experience, a rocketry electronics manufacturer that offers a product with less than 100 Gs range is going to be fielding a lot of customer service questions about what do for rockets that sim to higher Gs than that.
 
The ICM-20601/2 has been around longer and has the same ranges. The 20649 is meant for to handle shock loads. Existing (ICM-20601) go 'offline' after a shock load. A 30G IMU is "ok" as long as there is high range accelerometer on board to back it up.

I was thinking from a DIY perspective considering that I linked to the Adafruit module.
