Here is a couple. The first one is a 2.6" core with 2 2.2" boosters. The second one is a 2.2" core with 2 29mm boosters. I'm working on another one now. It is a 3" core with 2 2.2" boosters.

How well did it work?

Boosters worked perfectly!

Shuttle itself did not glide terribly well (I'm yet to figure out the art of glider trimming), and the whole stack was a bit heavy for whatever it was that we flew it on that winter.
I've built another #1284 set, this time optimized for minimal weight. Been meaning to bring it over to the farm to fly it, but haven't been able to free up the launch weekends this year, yet. Other family and work commitments keep getting in the way ;-(

Excellent video. Thanks

I was considering the Big Bertha. I saw a super BB yesterday with the boosters that looked cool, I would likenfor it to look like the real heavy lift rocket or like this beautiful beast! I don't know who's or what it is but I love it.FB_IMG_1618546820603.jpg

I made custom booster release mechanisms inspired by the Apogee ones for my scratch Falcon Heavy and Space Shuttle Atlantis. They work great, and I often find both boosters landed within 10 feet of one another.

I just saw this Black Brant V from Rocketarium. 32" and big enough to use a JL chute release. I can also paint it with the stars and bars like the one above.
