Since it was a nice day I was in the Casino betting on the Final Four. Watched some basketball and golf at the same time. Went home at half time. Then it was war between me and the weeds. With the large amount of rain we have had the little beggars are every where. Went through 3 gallons of Round Up and only got about a third of the acre sprayed. I will have to do outside the fence too. After the weeds die this summer they become a fire hazarded. I keep a 30' clear zone around the property. When a wind driven wild fire gets going it moves fast and hot. My neighbor has let giant weeds grow along his fence. He has privacy slats in his fence. The weeds on the outside of his fence are 4' to 5' tall. Dry weeds and plastic spell disaster. Fortunately I have cleared between his place and mine. This weekend is the annual Baker to Las Vegas foot race. All Police, Fire and other first responders. Each member of the team runs one leg. All the runners are followed by a vehicle with flashing yellow lights. The first runner got to the outskirts of Pahrump about 4:30pm. They are still going past.{9:40pm} I can see the highway about 3/4 of a mile away. If I walk around to the East side of my house I can see them on the horizon running down the freeway 20 miles away. I think every year. I wonder what the passengers think when the airliners fly over. A 40 mile or more line of flashing yellow lights. Hope tomorrow is nice so I can kill more weeds.
