Had one of these turn up in the mail yesterday, including the L-band feed. Ordered it about six months ago.

Feed unit looks very well-made. Haven't opened the larger box yet.

Now I need to find some time to assemble it and connect it to my SDR. Too much house work going on :(

At 3 am this morning I replaced the four filters in each of the three quad filter setups where the cat boxes are. This evening I replaced the air filter for the HVAC in the garage. I replace that one every week. Besides being dusty outside I make my own dust inside.

Found out some folks from my cycling club in Texas are organizing a week long cycling trip to northern Italy in May. They are starting and ending in Milan, which is only a 4h drive, so I think I'll be joining them. Will coincode with the Giro in that region, so should catch 1-2 stages of that while in the area.

Also, replaced a 25ft section of fence a falling tree took out a couple months ago and made some pizzas for dinner.

FTFY (since you're living in the land of the metre)

Would those now be made in a wood-fired pizza oven? 😆:p🤪

Cleaned the back of our old 98 GMC "Grosser" out to start cleaning out a storage unit we have had for many years. Brought back some office equipment and microfiche records.
Also replaced the aux. battery in that truck, it was getting weak after three years. We're heading back up to the shop we are building in Colorado, picking up some shower enclosures for our place in Red River, NM. on the way. Cold weather and a weak battery is not a good mix. Three day blitzkrieg run up and back.
First time we get to see the shop with siding on it!

Spent the morning online shopping for an odd size area rug, 9'x11', for the living room. Finally found one and at a great price too. Ordered. Got ready to drive to the furniture store to pick up a dining room chair that we ordered a couple weeks ago. Delivery date was today. Figured I better call them to make sure its there before I drive 45 minutes each way. Good thing I did, delivery to the store is delayed until Feb 7th. So, I instead drove to Home Depot to pick up some Dewalt shelving units and leveling feet, for the basement organization/storage. Got them home and put together. These are very nice, big, heavy duty shelves!

Drove an hour to inventory a Family Dollar. Got back home and shortly thereafter, the snow started. No mail delivery, because that whole "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," evidently doesn't actually apply to postal workers.

I have been trying to collect all the aerospace Lego sets but I think I’m going to have to skip that one because I’ve been developing a strong hate for the SLS. But the Lego set looks so nice, report back on the set and if you like it I’ll add it to the list.
Funny story, I'm passing on that set as well in favor of the LRV being my next Lego Aerospace set.

Maybe if Artemis 2 and 3 actually fly and accomplish their objectives, I'll reconsider. For now, I just really can't convince myself to be overly excited about Artemis.

Seeing everyone back home post snow pictures and screenshots of weather forecasts this winter makes me so glad I moved where it never snows and almost never freezes. Our low so far this winter has been 1 C and there has been no snow below 1200 m elevation (I live at 100 m) in this department.

I know this is nothing to most people, but it’s once in a lifetime to wake up and see this in South GA:

Nice photo - thank you for sharing. We have minimal snow cover right now (SE Wisconsin, near to Lake Michigan), but yesterday’s high temp. [UNusually] was one degree Fahrenheit. Yuk!
Hopefully you will lose no fruit nor nut trees that you may have. And to think that your neck of the woods is one of those destinations to which we Wisconsinites flee to escape our snow and cold!
Our club flies Saturday - expected high predicted to be 34 degrees . . .

“…back home…” Where did you live?

Figs, plums and pears, they should all make it. Nothing's bloomed yet so probably no fruit lost. It's okay if we did, the experience for the family is worth it.

I don't know about us, but the county where I work is on curfew until noon, $1000 fine for anyone caught. We just have no resources to handle the icy roads.

Y'all are madmen!

Before moving last July I lived in Garland, TX for 17 years. I'm originally from central PA, and grew up mostly in western MD. In this case "back home" really refers to any of those places.

Was -2 last night, now 2 at 9:30am

Nothing much snow wise
-11 this morning when I left the house at about 7:00. About -5 when I got to work, 20 minutes later and at lower elevation. +12 here at work now (1:17) and the forecast high is only 14. But the worst is over, as it's not supposed to get below 14 all night (here at work; home will no doubt be several degrees colder).

(Yesterday) Another dentist visit--I have terrible teeth, hereditary--to have a loose crown removed and a replacement installed. Going back in February for a final crown to be added.

Having serious difficulty getting my prescribed B12 injected. The place that prescribed it is an hour away, my primary-care location won't provide syringes and needles so I can do it myself. Time to look for a new pricare practice.

Ten years ago, with the old MD in charge, I could have walked into the office and asked for syringes/needles and would have gotten them in ten minutes. Or I could have asked for a nurse to do the injections; ten minute wait. Healthcare in PartsUnknown is beginning to suck like an Electrolux. :(

I saw on the Weather Channel that Pensacola Florida got 7.6" of snow. Our temp last night was 19F with about a 10 mph wind. I saw pictures from New Orleans and they are covered in snow too. Here our Mt Charleston is 12K+ and has no snow on it. This is not going to help Lake Meade. Ok, funny story. In 1960, I was 4, my dad was in the 101st Airborne and we lived in Clarksville Tennessee across the street from Fort Campbell. My parents grew up in Michigan. There had been snow flurries overnight. The ground looked like it had powdered sugar on it. My mom got us in the car and drove to a store. There wasn't another car on the road, IIRC. I do remember this part well. When we walked into the store the lady inside said, in her southern drawl, you all must be from up north.
Did any of you happen to look at the stock market yesterday? I did. I do everyday. It was nuts. Everything was up and some by huge amounts. My stocks were up 2.5%. Thats big. 1% is good. I was going to buy some stocks yesterday but didn't because the prices were up 4%, 5%, 6% and way higher. I've been playing with the market for about 10 years and I can't recall a day like yesterday. This morning I was at my computer at 5:30 am and ready for the market to open at 6 am {9 am EST}. Which was a very big deal for me considering I didn't lay down until 3 am. I wanted to see if the upward trend continued or if there would be profit taking. Just before the bell yesterday I bought a few shares of GE Aerospace and some TSMC because they were within my target price. This morning everyone must have had a hangover because instead of off to the races nothing happened. Then the profit taking started. I picked up a couple more stocks at a price below my targets. Can't wait until tomorrow. I won't be up at 5:30 though. More like noon.

That sent me down a rabbit hole.... Like their SDR radio locator. https://www.krakenrf.com/product-page/krakensdr
