Dropped in on our friend who had a skiing crash in Switzerland about a month ago. She is back here now and was operated on for a bone fragment in her leg last week. We dropped some nice home-made bolognese sauce/pasta/parmesan so her partner will have one less meal to cook whilst looking after her.

I went through the Sterite bins and cleaned out 20+ cans of spray paint I'll never use. Gonna give them away or toss them if nobody wants them.. more downsizing.

Those are the bomb! Laff if u want, but these were rally cars in disguise. Way before WRX came on scene. I could kick myself for letting it go. The little go cart tires put you right down on the road so you got immediate feedback. You could bend these little boomers so hard into a corner you could make it square.Farm work.

My first road car was a Cooper. Learned to lift a rear wheel under hard cornering in the first week I had my license!
we took a large melamine board that was part of a closet system and cut it down so it will fit on top of my Ikea 8 Cube LP storage rack. then we put the drop cloths down and I sanded it with an orbital sander with 120 on it, and then used up most of a can of Rustoleum satin finish after I drilled new holes about 4 inches apart, so that I can put some dowels up on top and have a rocket storage rack.
I went through four wall hanging compartment bins filled full of Fasteners, electrical connectors, etc., and picked out what I wanted and then taped them up, set them off to the side, so now all four will go to my son's garage. more downsizing still left to do.
Saw this nice XKE in Lismore.
First time I saw a Datsun 240Z I thought "Hey, looks like a Jaguar XKE".
I was working as an attendant at a gas station my senior year of high school and a Jag pulls in and the driver says Fill 'er up.
So when I go to collect payment he says "Oh, did you fill the other gas tank too?".
Duh.

When my father and I went shopping for my first car one of the dealerships had a Jag XKE in the showroom.
Window sticker price - $9 grand.
Circa 1972.

I used to work next door to a mechanic. We traded car services for repairs to his diagnostic equipment; usually damage to the leads from hot engines.
I went in there one day when he was tuning a V12 XKE. He said is was "a 3F car. Fast, fragile and f****** gorgeous".

Hired a guy to detail our Explorer. I saw them doing a truck in a Casino parking lot and got a card from them. Two high school kids. Very ambitious guys. One of them came by with his little brother to help him. They did a good job. They only charged $70. That's a lot less expensive than all the other places in town. When they were finished a couple hours later I gave them $100. Still cheap by comparison to the others. One place charged me $160. Didn't go back. And I played with the cats.
Yesterday I started the not fun adventure into looking at business insurance and stuff for the maple operation. Have the opportunity to ramp up; so I want to have all the bases covered. This process will not be enjoyable. The main thing is to get a roof over my head for making it (sugar shack) and that is a bit challenging to insure when you're not technically a farm or zoned as farm....

My daughter's going through the process of making her summer side gig a real business. I imagine that if you're producing food it's even more of a hassle.

searched for more things in my hobby room, now only missing thing.
When we redid ours about twenty years ago, we completely redesigned the layout and installed everything: cabinets, countertops, sink, faucet, dishwasher, stove, floor underlayment, ceramic wall tile and ceramic peninsula tile (never do that pattern again!) ourselves---except for the vinyl flooring.
Usually I follow the adage of "why should I pay someone $50/hour to screw up what I can screw up myself for free?". But I helped my cousin install carpet and vinyl in my college years, and learned just enough to let a professional come in for that job.
I got in touch with two of my cigar buddies and one of them is going to buy my billet aluminum, blue anodized ashtray, that's really too heavy for me to pick up, and the other guy is buying a Dremel 3000 tool kit as I have two, and don't need but one.
It's been a Looong weekend.
Last Friday I drove from Red River, NM to the Rocket pasture in Kansas. (500 miles) Set up camp and moved a 200 lb. mixer from Wildman's new trailer to our cargo trailer, and picked up our "Black Saturday" order.
Saturday Sharon and I flew a bunch of rockets, and I walked about 8 miles recovering them.
Sunday I drove back to Red River.
Monday I unloaded the trailer and packed the truck, in 20* windy conditions, cleaned the house and went to bed early.
Yesterday I drove from Red River to Show Low, AZ. (400 miles) Spent the rest of the day with good friends and had a most excellent sushi dinner.
This morning I drove from Show Low to our home in Goodyear. (200 miles) Unpacked the truck, went grocery shopping and am currently catching up on seven pages of new posts here on TRF.

We had a painter/handyman come by. Wife wants the base boards painted. After almost 18 years in this house there are some cracks in the drywall that need fixed. I want him to finish putting together a grill I bought at and end of season sale. I was putting it together and discovered the gas line was crushed. The company sent new parts. To bad I don't know what to do next. I don't want to take apart what I had put together. Good thing he works on grills too. We were talking about the crack repair and the topic of matching paints came up. It would be very difficult to get an exact match. We might end up painting the whole inside. I hope these projects come out better than the pool fiasco.

Woke up about 3:00 am. Couldn't get back to sleep. Checked blood sugar, needed a shot. Found there was a footy match on - Lions vs, Bulldogs. Watched first half. Going to try to get back to sleep now.

Yep. Check the zoning. Another cidery near us got shutdown that way. We’ve had our own troubles, too. The neighbors reopened what we thought was settled 15 years earlier.
Then meet your DATCP inspector. Pretend you care what they think. It makes them feel good.
I settled the regulatory side first. Insurance is just something you buy.
Thanks. There are some weird things with maple stuff in WI. I can sell direct to consumers just fine without any licensing/inspections (but am going to be double-sure on that soon). It's when I start selling to resellers/bulk that it gets sticky (pun intended). If I'm going to build a sugar shack and need to meet those processing requirements, I want to have it all figured out before I build
