i have a 1998 Ford SVT Cobra with a Sean Hyland Motorsport 575 HP shortblock, SHM blower cams, Vortech S-trim @ 12psi, headers, bassani x-pipe, etc. it runs 11s in the 1/4 mile (so far) at 123mph.

my other car is a 1990 Mustang LX with a 5.0 stock block, edelbrock 6037 heads, hooker headers, e-cam, nitrous, etc. it also runs 11s in the 1/4 mile

i may have to sell the LX to pay for some BIG rockets
hehehhe!

1987 Buick Grand National, stock engine, stock heads, stock intercooler, TA49 turbo, 110 octane and 22 psi boost. Runs mid 12's at 105-107 mph with 1.6 60ft times using Hoosier QT Pros. I'
m hoping for high 11's if they ever get the Tulsa track put back together.

I have an adjustable chip that allows me to go from street to track settings. Drives nice, automatic transmission, A/C, Power windows...etc...etc. (It's a Buick after all). If you stay out of the boost it will get 28mpg in overdrive down the highway. Seats 5 and has a big trunk. (likes to surprise 5.0 owners when they're not paying attention) :)

JK...my previous "play car" was a 94 Mustang GT.

Elapid, Love the Cobra. I met Sean Hyland at the Tulsa Shelby meet a couple of years ago. Very nice guy. He certainly knows the Ford Mod Motors. Sounds like you have a 1st class set-up.

John

there's one at the local track that runs 10s on minimal mods

thanks for the kudos, i am working at making it a first-class setup...still much work to do.

I have a 1992 Ford Ranger XLT long box with a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder 5 speed. 0 to 60 times in the low 2 or 3 minutes. I'm hoping for high 11's in the 1/4 mile but the best I can do is about a minute.

I also have a secret chip...somewhere on the windshield.

All "tricked out with custom "doghair" (covered...two dogs!) and coffee stain cloth split bench seats, a discount cap and rubber floor mats.

I think I washed it about 4 or 5 years ago.

This is the only vehicle I've ever owned that was slower than my 1967 VW microbus!

But with the enclosed cap I can carry a LOT of rockets!

Saturn SC-1, I love it. Looks nice and gets about 37mpg.

Oh man, you crack me up!

LOL! I too have a Ford Ranger, 1992, xtra cab, 3.0L V6. It is "moose turd brown" (my dad's words) and I took it to the car wash a couple weeks ago. It has dents on three sides, not the front. that's a good thing. I hit the tree in the front yard, backing up to hook up a boat trailer and that's what made the crumples on the fenders over the rear wheels.

it was the first vehicle I ever bought brand new. a few months ago my son barfed in the front seat. It has had a long life (88,000 miles) towing boats and getting dunked in salt water and going camping and hauling rockets. it is looking forward to another 88,000 miles.

oh yeah, the other car is a 2004 Mazda RX-8. zoom zoom!!!!

Stock 2001 Chevy 2 door Tracker. Motor is big enough to get me where I'm going, not important as long as it runs. LOL

Sandman:
I have a 1990 version of that...if you every decide to retire it, please let me have first shot at it so I can use it for parts.....

2003 Subaru WRX/STI (300hp)

I can get to more rocket shoots in more miserable conditions faster than is really necessary.

I've got a Toyota Camry V6 (V6 in a 4-banger chassis makes for a nice combo!) and the wife's got a Grand Am on its last gasps of gasoline and TLC. We've decided to replace it with a minivan... which she thinks is for the kids, but I know that it's really for the rockets...

shock,

Not much chance of that...she already has 158,000 miles on it... all in Michigan...heart of the RUST belt!

I'm drivin' her 'til she drops.

She's sorta my reverse status symbol. Makes me feel like Sam Walton (founder of Wal-Mart).

It has the added benifit of being able to drive into construction zones, dirt roads and bad city neighborhoods and I don't care.

Hey...it's a truck!

sandman:D

heh. I drive my moms 1994 chevy caviler station wagon. I can hit 65MPH in that thing...

with a tailwind.

If any of you want to donate to the "get solrules a car" fund, feel free to contact me. I accept all single use and reload motors.

I've got one of these prized vehicles myself, Sandman. A 1984 Ford F150. About 140,000 "city" miles on her and driven in the other rust belt of the planet, Wisconsin. It still doesn't burn oil and starts on the 1st turn of the key. Mind ya, she's comin apart at the seams as far as metal goes but, like you, I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere and will simply grab my keys out of her and walk away, should it meet it's demise.
My guess is, I'll be driving it for a few more winters to come. ;)

sandman - LOL! i like that.
shrox - did you drive that onto the beach? or is it photoshopped?
secretsquirrel - wow! nice collection!
kenobi65 - i like those PT Cruisers, i'd like to see one with a 2003 Cobra motor in it ;)
cls - GO FORD!
crashinj - with that handle, it's prolly best that you drive a chevy! (j/k!)
shockwaveriderz - hey, it's a ford, can't be all that bad!
Hospital_Rocket - My friend jus tgot one of the 04 models, he says it's faster than his 96 supercharged Mustang GT  he wants to race me through the twisties :p i told him BRING IT!
wwattles - the 'yota sounds peppy! it's ALL about the KIDS... riiiiight! that's MY line too! ;)
solrules - mom's car's always best since if it breaks, you may not have to pay the bill! I may have to borrow my mom's car to take to launches ;)
Stones - lol! sign the pink slip and leave the keys in it when it's done. :D no sense in hauling around a bunch of keys that don't fit anything.
jrogers - hey, ME TOO!
Micromister - that's a big van! right on!

nice to see all the ford guys out there!
hehehe
i'll be taking my wife's 2003 Pathfinder to launches to avoid any untoward accidents like on that Damon Wayans TV commercial...

hahahhaha!

Up 'till two Saturdays ago (on my way to the launch  ) my vehicle was a very ghetto 1984 Sky blue Volvo DL station wagon. Oh yes, it is a 4-banger, and I even got it up to 85mph once (parts were about to come off...I guess that's how a rocket feels at max-q). That car was my PIMP MOBILE complete with fuzzy dice, stuffed monkey lifting weights, hula girl, maple leaf coconut air fresheners, fuzzy leapord skin seat covers, and a disco ball. Yes, I'm that sad. But it died on the way to the launch two Saturdays ago (still got there and got certified and back in time for my date thank goodness :D). So we're getting rid of the pimp mobile, and I'm getting my new dark grey Ford Ranger Edge 4x2 (wanted 4x4, but not much choice here) tomarrow. I'm exited!

Not only does the Sandman love his truck, but it loves him too.

I had the honor of carpooling Sandman (and the Little Joe II :D ) to the latest HUVARS meeting. When we got home we discovered his truck actually cried brake fluid while he was away. Almost like one of those weeping Madona things. Really eerie.

Elapid,

The picture of the Saturn on the beach is from the Saturn company, they like the Northwest Redwood coast too...

1975 Honda Civic 1200. 1.2L engine, FOUR speed manual transmission. So old it doesn't even have KM/H on the speedometer, so I kind of have to guess. It really screams when it's in 4th gear and wailing down the Inland Island Highway at 70 to 90 MPH. Fuel tank sender is dead, I judge fuel stops by mileage. Front shocks need adjusting. The list goes on.

Dad bought this car new in '75, and drove it an estimated 250,000 to 300,000 miles (breaking two odometers in the process) by 1982 (7 years!). Since he got a company car around that time, it sat in our garage and acted as a camping equipment storage rack until 2002, when he and I spent six months of weekends overhauling it. I have sunk about $4000 into it, and for that price I could have had a pretty decent and much newer used car, but it was worth it for both learning about the car and, well, spending six months of weekends working on the car with Dad. Now, if I could pull Dad into rocketry...

If anyone knows where I can get the 5-speed transmission off a 1975-79 Civic 1200 Wagon or Civic CVCC (the only car to ever pass California emissions WITHOUT a catalytic converter), please PM me.

In 1982 I got a 1970 Dodge Charger 500 with notch back roof and that cool racing looking gas cap! I put $5000 dollars into it and ended up with practially a funnycar that probably would not have been legal if they actaully inspected cars then. It was very sharp. Dark burgundy powered metal paint, white landau top with deep dish Crager mags. Raised about 10 inches in the back by air shocks.

It got hit by a little old lady...then it disappeared behind a mystery tow truck and was never seen again. Sad.

I have one of those prize pickup trucks. A 1979 F-150. Burns some oil, trany front seal leaks and is rusting pretty bad, but its a farm beater truck.

Also have a 1991 T-bird with 240 some thousand miles. Its starting to rust. Our newest is a 1999 Escort ZX2. That little four banger will rip pretty good:D

Then there is my first car.(I bought it in 1981) 1968 Charger R/T 440 Magnum, auto trans, American Racing rims. It will burn the tires clean off if you want to...It needs work, but sure gets the looks when your cruisin around in it;)

Well, currently I drive nothing, but this is what I want to drive: :D :D :D
