Hey @hobie1dog , I see some fella is selling 7 Launch Pad kits on FB. Should I reserve them for you?

:p:p😂
I'm still doing battle with this kit. I now have to put a 3rd layer of lightweight filler over that paper NC tip as every time I sand the filler the paper tears out under it. 🤬 If I thought it wouldn't end up being more of a hassle to rip off the tip, then carefully sand off all the rest of the filler, I'd do it.

Learned that 'hand-cut with a battle axe' card centering rings and precision, OR created, laser printed, corrected for paper thickness transitions do not always play well together.

In other news, it's still raining... 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️

Finished painting the sustainer of the ARC Black Widow. Decided to leave the beveled fin edges unpainted because I think they look cool.😎

The mainly white motif is an homage to Natasha Romanoff’s snow suit.

Scarlett Jo in the white snow suit or Denise Richards in the white outfit that White She Devil wore.....tough call. 😍

I put the final touches on a BG converted Flite Test Mighty Mini Arrow among other projects. I'm looking forward to a launch tomorrow morning.

Indeed. Looks like 100F on Saturday. Good thing we're acclimatized to it. Edit to add: being used to it doesn't make the heat suck any less. 🤣

I have those E2Xes packed up for you, BTW.
I just put the box of Alphas by the front door.

I think so I'll be sure to have something to fly, that I'll bring my kite. If you see a box kite, we're probably at the other end.

I went and picked up some big tubes that someone told me they saw out for recycle. I also saw something out of the corner of my eye while driving home that I had to go back and check out. I missed the chance to buy these 4' tall Pringles packs when they were for sale at BJ's. Sadly this one was water damaged. However, I did get to check it out and it would make a great low-powered or mid-powered rocket. Nice light tube! I will keep looking and hope that BJs sells these again!

I can only imagine what someone would think of you taking picture of trash. Must be a spy. Ours or theirs? Doesn't matter. Top Secret rocket plans.

Ok, here are the pictures I promised.
the first one is of BT's covered in filler.
second is the best filler I have ever used.
third, top view of seeker.

here is the rest,

Non functional hinges
switch band and switch. I got tired of trying to get everything lined up to turn on the altimeter. That's why the switch is on the outside.
the whole thing.
"Lance ATGM" in Ukrainian.
I named it Lance after sitting and trying to come up with a name I could do in Cyrillic. Some of them were very long in Cyrillic. I think this name works out fine.
The specs, 4" LOC tube with a 54mm MMT. It's 60" long and weighs 110 ounces with everything but the motor. Rear fins are 1/4" 5 ply poplar. Forward fins are 1/4" balsa. The centering rings are 1/2" 5 ply birch. The centering rings have JB Kwik Weld holding them in place. I used JB 5 minute epoxy to make a dam on the backside of the forward centering ring. I screwed 4 #8 x1/2 screws through the BT into the rings. The seeker is some bits and pieces I had laying around. The plastic ball and dome are sold as "fillable Christmas ornaments". They come in 1" and up to 12". I keep 1",2", 3" and 4" on hand. It is dual deploy. The hinge idea just popped into my head at Home Depot. It required no nose weight. Much to my surprise. I polished it with F11 auto paint sealer and polish. That stuff made my Mustang so slick it is now a chore to put the car cover on because it slides off before I can hook it on something. When it is on and the cats get on the car they slide with the cover a bit.
And that is it.

Dave

Can you confirm that the mini mag is still ''Loc N Fin'' construction?

I don't have a 5.5" fin guide.

Yup, still is. Got it yesterday.

Still amazed that they switched this from thinner fins with those wedges, thinner CRs, and went from a 40oz or so rocket to 67 oz - and they still supply a 36" chute with it. OR shows 50" is more reasonable. The sim file on the site is a clusterf*** - still has the old fins and CR sizes but seems to have the right nose weight that when the fins and CRs are adjusted to the new 1/4" sizing, it lands right at 67oz.

Heat? We had 12" of snow, followed a day later by 6" of snow, just last weekend. We need it though. All that snow and right now, merely a few days later, the soil is like dry chocolate milk mix. That "dry heat / low humidity" means most of the snow evaporates away... run-off just isn't much of a thing.

wow !... a lot of cool kits !!
...enough fun builds for a long time !!😁

I bought several Mini Honest Johns at the $3 sale price thinking I would use them for parts or as wind testers. As I started to build one I decided to bash it to work on my meager modeling skills. So, the mods include a longer body tube, transition to larger tube at the aft end and larger fins. Nose weight will be needed, but since I don’t know what the finished weight will be, I keeping the 24MM motor option available. Shock cord will attach to a baffle/shelf made of a spent D motor case. Will install 2 launch lugs.

Productive day.

Sanded and test fit the fins and centering rings on the Minie Magg and got the retainer hardware in along with front ring eye bolt. Filled the spirals on that and sanded smooth. Drilled vent holes in the BT. Rounded fin leading edges as well.

Got the spirals filled in the Cluster Daddy body tube. Hardware in all the rings for recovery and motor retention. Cut the fins from birch ply, rounded them as well.

NCR SA-14 Archer finished today still have to mount the retainer and a few coats of Pledge Revive polish.
