Got our launch stuff kinda organized. Better than a couple cardboard boxes at least. Free toolbox. Fun story with that. Ordered this item off our work's recognition program - where employees can give each other points and thank yous and then we can maybe "buy" some stuff once we slowly accumulate a few points. The toolbox came smashed pretty bad and was dropped off when I couldn't refuse delivery; thanks UPS! Top and bottom boxes had a good bit of broken plastic. Slide rails were no longer sliding and pulled apart. The "store" agreed to send a new one; then a few weeks later said they no longer have any. So, they refunded the points I spent on it and said to throw the broken one away.

Yeah, not going to throw anything away. Some extra thin plastic I had laying around, spray adhesive and pop rivets got the broken plastic back into a much more solid state. The crack on the left rear corner of the top box seems to be holding up ok glued with some CA. Was able to get the slide rails back together; but with a few missing bearings. It'll work for rocket stuff; not like I'm hauling really heavy tools in it. So, free stuff is pretty nice :) But seriously, the design of the thing is great; but the materials used turn this into cheap crap.

Also glad I went through everything. Dangerously short on D12-3s - only two left. Ah!!!

Rebuilt the inter-stage coupler on my Majestic 2 stage. Last weekend I had a successful fight using an H163 W.T. booster and a G80 Skidmark sustainer motor. When I built the coupler, it didn't have a motor in it. The nozzle and cap kept the coupler from seating all the way up, so I scrapped another Pro series booster kit for the coupler and added the bulkplate a little lower down.
Also re-worked the cable cutter tether and routed the ematch wire with it. Last flight the main chute tangled with the wire and didn't open properly. I will be shortening the igniter wire for the G80 a bit too.

I'm so wrapped up in this, I had to order another Majestic kit from AC Supply today, and another booster, just because...
I think that's #6.
Amazing how you can work your way up through Level 3, survive the slump, and have something like this grab you. I'm casting and building 75mm and 98mm research loads for NCR and Airfest, but I REALLY need to get this ready for NSL next month. Go figure....

Just took delivery of my new AeroTech Astrobee-D that I ordered from Chris' Rocket Supplies. Ordered it yesterday at 05:35, chose standard shipping, and it was on my front porch by 13:45 today!

Edit to add: Must have gotten lucky as Chris now shows the Astrobee-D to be out of stock and a 6-week lead time! Yikes!!!

Today I finished an oddroc. I used an Amazon box as the body. It's 5" x 5" x 56" It weighs 55 ounces with a chute. The box by it's self was 27 ounces. I put a 38mm mmt in it. I used 1/4" birch ply for the centering squares. I put a 2.2" BT 24" long with 1/8th inch foam board centering squares from the mmt up. Both as a stiffener and to reduce the internal volume. The fins are 1/8th" foam board laminated together to make 1/4" fins. Tacked to the mmt with JB Quik Weld and then epoxy external filets. The nose cone is pieces of the box end put together with hot glue. I put 5 ounces of BB's and epoxy in the nose. Made a cardboard coupler and used 1/4" ply for the bulkhead. Thrustcurve puts it at about 800' on a H182. I'm Calling it Amazon Prime.

Recieved all the parts from Rocketarium to do the Up scale of the Centuri "Astro 1". Coming in at 31 inches long, 2.60 BT-80 airframe and a 24mm Motor mount. Weight comes in about 7 ounces. Made the fins out of Basswood on my Slide Saw. The small Astro 1 in the picture next to the parts is an original 1972 Centuri model.

Are we just wildly created or do you have so many boxes you figured you had to put one into good use. Man looks just like one of those squared rocket kits.......and sims to 800 feet , amazing. How do laminate 2 pieces of form board together?

I just finished my upscale Alien Space Probe. Thanks to BigDaddy for his build thread. That's where I got the idea. It's a 3" tube with a 38mm mmt. It's 54 inches tall and weighs 33 ounces with a chute. The legs are 3/8th inch dowels and the feet are half of a 2" aerial fireworks shell. The blue and white vinyl is colored electrical tape and the black around the cockpit windows is 1/8th pinstripe. The silver is craft paint. It will fly on everything from a G80 to a I140. I'm going to use a 58" chute for a 12 FPS landing speed and hopefully stick the landing.

I hope to hear of many good landings! That turned out great!

This took shape just now. It's so cute :p Had to get creative with the nosecone to have enough room for the laundry. Thankful it's a nice heavy model with a good shoulder (from Rocketarium).
