Marathon painting session of all the rockets I've built over the past few months. It's finally been over 50 the last couple of days. Space Shot is also visible having gotten its last round of fillets.

Six of the nine are fully colored (Sasha, Flamethrower, Duper Big Bertha, Deuces Wild, little Atlas, and 2x4), one is partially colored (Cerberus), and two just have primer (Cornered and L-13).

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go lie down and try not to barf from the paint fumes.

Finally finished sanding the tapers on the SLS Arcas clone fins.
Man, what a PITA!
Now to brush some CWF on the fins and fin plates and...........
Oh no, more sanding!

😤

Really not looking forward to sanding the tapers into my Estes Doorknob and HoJo. Any tips on doing it neatly? Is it just a matter of patience?

I just got back from a family vacation. Great times!

The prototype circuit boards showed up for my first rocket electronics project. They don't have components on them, but it's sure fun to see & touch these little boards.

Our road trippin' gave me lots of time to design rockets & rocket parts in my head while I was driving. Ordering some parts for my next build from Wildman in 3...2...1...

This is what we call a Rocket Factory.Yeah! You have a nice shop. I see what you mean about the paint fumes.

Since the wind died down today I was able to prime two rockets and put color on two. One of those I just finished. It's a 1950's Sci-fi inspired design. It's 44" long weighs 37 ounces with chute, has a 38mmt and uses a 3" BT. The Nose cone is a 6" styrofoam ball. And it has 4 death rays. It's scratch build number 117 and I'm calling it Regulus.

Just tonight (actually early morning since I no longer sleep at night like normal folks) I removed the painter's tape from my AeroTech ARCAS and put all of the decals and aluminum info plate on the body, plus got the recovery laundry almost completely rigged (waiting on feedback from the forum regarding attachment points for Nomex chute protectors). Once I see what folks here recommend, the final steps will be completed later today and she'll be ready to fly!

A nice cool different design it is. What did you use for the Rays?

- I did the math(s) to upscale the plans I purchased from Mr. Macklin to make a guillotine fin jig.
- Blemish/touch-up work on my Big Daddy kit.
- Opened the packaging for my V2 kit and plan to assemble the motor mount and centering rings tonight.

Big Daddio is looking good. A V2 is my next build. I painted my Rocketarium Skyflash.

More electronics design & fab work. I also did some thinking about selling a rocket kit or two of my own design. (Time to make some prototypes!)

Received some hardware to make a two-axis tracking gimbal head for an Automatic Antenna Tracker. Hardware does not match the pic of the ad (Chinese supplier), complicating assembly. It is better designed than I thought, further complicating the required assembly. I am upgrading the screws to stainless along the way also.

Estes Swift. I found it at hobby lobby for $3.99. I was able to get it for $2 though because it was missing the launch lug. The most satisfying two dollar investment I will ever make.

The Vexillum is done and I'm taking a little break from building now that the weather is moderating. While I'm pretty solid on the name, the color does present a whole range of cringe worthy possibilities.......

Plum Gone
Gilbert's Grape
Purple Nurple
Grapes of Thrust
And for anyone who raised children in the 90's there's always....Barney!
