Upcoming adventures: Flying a 4k sport camera in a high powered rocket was fun. Now to fly a mid powered rocket near populated areas will capture more interesting landmarks. Oops! The the mysterious Project X leaked. It's going to be epic!

Not so much just today.....but I've been color sanding my Loc 4" Goblin....I'm almost finished with that, just got a little more on the nose cone to color sand...
Did get the circumferential stripe applied today.....
A little (A LOT) more color sanding and it's ready for clear coat!

I had a great day with Southern Arizona Rocketry Association at the Tucson Hebrew Academy for their STEM fair. Members of our club helped 28 kids build and fly model rockets. All did a great job building and the flights went off without a hitch.

The biggest thrill for me was meeting folks representing Vector Space Systems. Their Galactic Sky program is essentially a cloud based Space as a Service. You rent a platform that is based on microsatellites that are already in space. Smart!

Did a bunch. Worked on the Crossfire. Did some repairs on a scratcher. Looked at my 3x18 custom mmt. Looked at a Big Daddy upscale. Filled some ,sanded some. Ect.

Woke up with another rocket concept and paint scheme in my noggin'! I haven't finished my Big Bertha or Leviathan yet. Oh where does it end????????

Glued fins onto a club loaner that I'm rebuilding. Filleted them. BT-60 and Big Bertha fins, but the tube is a little shorter than a Bertha and the nose cone is a long ogive. I've nicknamed it Big Betty.

So try as i might i just could not stop fiddling with the "Bertha" decal on this girl, she ended up a little crooked but i shot her with a couple of coats of clear this weekend anyway. Also has my first "attempt" at epoxy fillets on this one, used the wax paper and dowel method, results were hit and miss. It was hard to gauge how much epoxy to use. No big deal she is built to fly not sit on a shelf somewhere. bertha.jpg

When I was a kid, my parents got me a Bertha, my very first kit. I really messed up the build and became discouraged. When I call myself a BAR, it's really that my rocketeering was still-born the first time. I've built a good number of rockets, pretty well if I may say so myself, but that first failure still bugs me. So, I recently bought a new Bertha kit to build for redemption. I hope (no, intend) mine comes (will come) as well as yours.

(I'm thinking of going with a chocolate, sexy paint job and calling Bertha Kitt.)

Cleaned casings and rockets from last weekends SSS Spring Blast launch. Two most excellent days of flying. Friday was low power, with nine flights on LPR/MPR motors, then Saturday I flew five high power rockets. Had to come home early on Sunday.

Over the weekend - helped out at DART launch, signed off a bunch of "last chance saloon" TARC flights. Put a Grizzly mobile base under my bench mill stand and bolted it all together. Had vague regrets about not posting more to the build thread for that. Installed Mach4 on the computer. Close to getting the servo electronics box powered up. Hi Wayne!

Got very excited when I found that the Multi Roc finally showed up on the Estes website.
Placed an order for two and the Saturn V 1/200

With the winter builds either flown and recovered, CATO’d and in the repair pile, or hand tossed for trimming and maybe being abandoned (let’s see, do I have the commas in the right spots? 1, and the Oxford- yep) I thought I’d lay out the pieces for the next build.
