Received my Madcow shipment today containing two of the world's most expensive weld nuts and a free F/G Madcow Lil Goblin with a 38mm stove pipe. ;)

Guess I'll be playing with soap and water tonight.

Just placed a goodies order with Apogee for rail buttons, conformal rail guides (I'm indecisive....), kevlar line, chute protectors, and a chute release. Looking forward to trying out the chute release!

Gave my Madcow LilGoblin 38mm a bath today. Water, dish washing liquid, and rubbing alcohol. Can water catch fire?

next plan is to cut the 8" long motor tube down to 6" to make more room for the recovery gear. Don't plan on boosting any higher than 2k feet anyway and an H143SS will be plenty.

Any suggestions / advice for cutting the motor tube?

I made a Kuhn Cutter Jig for cutting regular (Estes-type) tubes, but heavier walled tubes would take forever, unless jig just scores the tube, and could be followed up with X-acto or razor knife. For making thru-cuts on large, heavy tubes, I've used my radial arm saw. I do not pull it thru the tube, but instead lock the arm so the blade just nicks the tube, and I roll the tube against a stop to score around the tube. I reset the blade to cut a bit deeper, and roll it again. I repeat until tube is completely cut. The same could be accomplished on table saw, probably with miter gauge, but supporting long tubes would be easier with a jig.

Oh, just realized you meant cutting motor tube down inside a rocket?! Will a Dremel tool with cutoff wheel fit?

Downloaded TRF app to my phone. (Very handy for those occasions when you're stuck some place and bored to tears) Launched our promotional campaign for Aerospace Adventure 2016 in hopes to build a new crop of rocketeers for the next several years.

Laminated my "to scale enlargements", then began tinkering with my SA-5, cutting tubes and doing mock ups and such.
Also revised my Openrocket file for said rocket.

Took a Dremel cutting wheel to my Madcow Lil Goblin 38mm motor tube and discovered that the internal "clutch" had disintegrated. After all, a 35 year old piece of "rubber macaroni" has a limited life span.

Turns out Amazon sells just about any Dremel parts you might ever want. A pair of replacement pieces will be arriving Sunday. The reviews are always interesting. A couple of reviewers described their homemade replacement parts, i.e. Rubber tubing, heat shrink sleeve, etc.

By the way, I'm cutting the motor tube down to 5.5" to make more room for the recovery gear. I'm already using about half the nose cone, too. At 27 ounces it should really move on a H143SS.

Flew today with Tripoli Wisconsin. 60F in March in Wisconsin?!? Zero Wind? What is this craziness?

I tried out my Wildman Interceptor 54 on an I55 mellow load. It was..uhh.. an interesting flight, but mostly in the right direction. G80 Skidmark on the Wildman 2.6" V2 was much nicer.

I did the fillets about 18 months ago when starting this kit, they were CA covered with CWF (carpenters wood filler). It's the last time I will use that method, from now on I'll continue using non shrinking PVA glue and a wet finger because it needs much less sanding and no repeat filling.

Spent the day at a local model train show helping to man a model rocket display. Trying to drum up interest in the Champlain Regional Model Rocket club.

Made some progress on my new Commanche 3. I screwed something up on the 2nd stage. Fortunately, I don't have the fins on it yet. No big loss, I just have to rebuild it. It was a dumb mistake caused by flipping from one section to another and back. Oy. I hope to paint my Quinstar tomorrow. Going with a flourescent orange. Yikes.
