I haven't been participating on TRF much lately, but have to step up and say something here...
Went out last Sunday mostly to chat/cajole/laugh with the core Indiana Rocketry folks at their new launch site just north of Pence, Indiana. I have to say--one of the nicest sites in the Midwest!!! Heck one of the best sites I've been to, PERIOD. Kudos to Richard Cash, Randy Milliken, Vic Barlow, Curtis Reynolds, et.al., in finding this site, securing it and building a fabulous relationship with the landowner(s). Best I can tell via satellite they have nearly 30 square miles (~20,000 acres) of
flat,
uninhabited land with only barns, grain bins, and sparse rows of trees here and there (all dry too, no water landings). If you want to go beyond that, and ignore a couple of farmhouses and two tiny towns, then it is quadruple that area. On the site they have three launch locations which they can trade off based on wind, ground moisture, parking needs, etc. Hey, I don't want to get ahead of the-powers-that-be, but could this be the next HOT rocketry destination you need to put on your collective calendars??
