was glancing at news bits on my home page...noticed a mention of a new weather bird going up on an Atlas V, the GOES-R and thought; that someone must have been channeling 'Ghost busters' when they named it .

The identical satellites costs about $500 million each. Four satellites will be launched, two East and two West. Current GOES satellites use 40 year old technology. This is quite an update.

Used up the margin in the launch window-but lift was great! Bird still hooked to the horse for next couple of hours-looks like the orbit is going to be good once it gets circularized. Yay for Goes-16!

Oh wow-did I PM you? Sorry 'bout that Ted- The weather was kinda hazy here at the Western High Altitude Monitoring Station. It was kinda cool tho' because some ghosts came out to play and a couple of buddies I hadn't heard from for a while chimed in. Seems like SpaceX wants to do Iridium fleet No. 2. ( I gotta get a better keyboard-wierd letters are showing up in the middle of some words.) Maybe my hands need a nap.
