Fwiw, AdBlockPlus let’s advertisers pay to bypass the filter. uBlock origin seems to be the go to ad blocker these days for people who just want a straight out ad blocker that auto updates and has a really small/fast system footprint.

Thanks for the advice- added adblock and the google fed ads are gone. Kind of frustrating as I has paid for a lifetime membership here- supposed to be ad free but these have crept in. Gone with adblocker

You should be able to turn all ads off in your account settings.

THANK YOU, Timbucktoo... I edited 'preferences' to disable advertising as you illustrated. :)

Supporting the forum and turning off ads seems like the most ideal solution to me.

That ad is just one that google ad sense serves up in that position. You can also click on the x in the upper right hand section of that ad to do some ad sense adjustments to what they serve you. But the best and easiest is to turn off ads on the Preferences as shown above.

Thank you Angie- you are 100% correct. I am concerned that Google is not vetting advertisers. MSN got so bad feeding malware in ads that its removed at all our companies.

Sorry, but I find that does nothing. Might close it today, but in a few days, it comes back.. At least from personal experience, regardless of how many times I 'X' an ad, it comes back..

maybe it's also how the ad is programmed / classed. like, today is the Subway 6" special. Next week, it's an ad for their new 'meat' 6" special. Same ad, sort of, but with a very slight twist.. but AdSense sees it as a new ad..

I don't have money. I don't need ads in my life.
I don't even watch TV channels that have commercials...same one's over n over n over again and again.
You get enough of Flo in a day to last ya a year!
I need, or want something, and by chance I have a little money...I use Bing or buy local. Usually gas.
Er, I should say my wife does...since I can't drive anymore.
Adblock+ keeps things moving fairly well. I use FREE CC Cleaner once a week along with running FREE Avast.
I've never heard of Ublock Origin. Is that for computers or cell phones? Cuz I ain't got no Cell phone!

Anyone look at timbucktoo's post above that tells how to turn off ads without adding anything to your computer?

If you want good adblocking for cell phones, (Android only) Get blokada.
https://blokada.org/index.html Note you have to first install FDROID It's like play store. Google banned this ad blocker... screw google. My new cell phone was chiming off every couple minutes all day with ads even when not running anything. This adblocker almost works too well though, it breaks a lot of sites. I don't care. I just turn it off when that happens. Last week alone it blocked over 100000 ads...

Odd, I do not see this add even when I visit the site without logging in.
