Vintage Estes Corsair build

Another older kit from Estes, the Corsair kit # 1999. This is a unique design that uses a plastic tail cone that I do not think was used in any other kits. The build went together with no issues, used white glue and Testors cement on the balsa to plastic parts. Built in less than a day, now ready for good ole fashion dope balsa sealer and gloss black paint. Still love the fresh smell of Testors Tube glue in the morning and the smell of balsa sealer.

It appears you have to cut slots in the plastic tail cone for TTW fins?

Only for the top fin, the other two fins are glued directly onto the plastic tail piece, they do not go through.

That'[s a very nice build! What's your idea of "older" or "classic"? Like many here, I started launching rockets in the late '60s and I'm just trying to make myself feel even older!

I too built by first model rocket in the late 1960's. I think it's a classic if :

1) It was in production in the last century. According to Gerry Fortin, this puppy was in production 1988-1990. A rare bird.
