How did you convince the forum to let you attach 25 pictures to one post? It's always limited me to 10 in the past. All weights are in grams.
Maybe it's the length of time that I been a member of TRF? Not sure. How did you convince the forum to let you attach 25 pictures to one post? It's always limited me to 10 in the past.
You can always use index pins. I drill holes at the joint with a brad point bit and glue in a piece of composite rod (you can use wood dowels too). That way the tubes are always positioned exactly the same. Drill the shear pin holes after the index pins and they will always line up exactly. I use the index pins for the nose cone and av-bay bulkheads also. Not only do they prevent getting the lids on the wrong ends, but between the booster, payload, and nose cone, it keeps everything aligned to the rail buttons. If you do have a switch band, using one index pin for the booster and two for the payload, it will prevent ever putting the av-bay in upside down and deploying the main at apogee. With everything aligned, you never have a pull pin or screw switch aligned to the rail and a GPS tracker won't be facing the rail and not be able to pick up satellites.GLR makes great rockets, and the FG ones are nearly indestructible. My only beef with them is that they don't give you switch bands... which makes it harder to line up the shear pins.
I used a scrap pice of PVC pipe to drill holes for the shear pins, I did this so I didn't drill the wrong size hole. So, instead of doing the fillets, I decided to measure and drill holes for the shear pins, I decided to use three pins for the drouge and main. I taped everything together so nothing moves. I don't have any metal angle but I do have 3/4 cold roll chanel to mark my lines on the rocket body and paper to mark the vertical lines. I cut three small pieces of metal to epoxy on the nose cone to better cut the shear pins.
Has anyone done fillets on the vertical Assault rocket? If so any and all advice and tips will be appreciated. I do have micro glass balloons to thicken the epoxy, just not sure how to use it .
