Howdy all,

I have an Estes Fat Boy that I am wanting to build. I opened the package and noticed that the upper portion of the body tube is partially crushed on one side. Along the top on the tube there is a thin two inch long verticle crush line.

To repair it I was thinking about tighly fitting the nose cone to shape the body tube. Then sand the outside of the tube where it is crushed. Once smooth I will wick in some CA. Repeat until hard. Then I will do the same to the inside of the body tube along the crush line.

Any thoughts on a better way to repair the crush?

Thanks

Your approach sounds good, however I would make this the BOTTOM of the tube instead as the repair, however visible, would be less so when in the fin area...

fwiw :)

your method would work well, and go with what jim said, at the base, with a fin covering the crease line

Unfortunately the Fat Boy has through the wall fins.

Turning the tube around won't work.

Contact Estes at 800-525-7561 x216

They "should" be able to help.

I'll give Estes a ring on Monday. If that doesn't work, then I'll try CA.

Thanks.
