One went by bus, one by air. One had detailed lettering and a red payload area, the other plain white. Easily a different rocket.
Who said it was shipped by air?

You can see the red at the top of the white tube section, and the white at the top of the upper red section.
You can also see evidence that the booster was cut just north of the upper launch lug.

Checkered(?).
So is there any news on if this rocket is still in baggage limbo? Or has it been snookered off to someone's collection or random things?
It is at an unclaimed freight store in Alabama. There have been several news stories about it in the past few days:

Holy cow, that is it!!
I was the original purchaser.
I have the off-forum contact info for the seller, and will try and contact him. How in the world did it end up in Alabama??!!
Turns out HARA (my club ) is just an hour away from that location. How the heck did it get there if it was going to you in Illinois? Was it a case of "it wasn't picked up at the terminal, so we gave it away"?
If this doesn't set the record for longest time a rocket's been lost and then recovered, I'd be shocked.
well, there's....
Wasn't Bezos or someone going to recover that?
Bezos recovered engines from Apollo 11 and 12. Those from 12 have been cleaned up and are at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
They got some back from Apollo 13 as well.
I worked at the Museum that restored them. It was an incredible two year experience to watch the restoration.
