Trim Fiberglass Centering Rings

Howdy!
I recently received a fiberglass Wildman kit and while attempting to dry fit everything, nothing really fit as I’m use to. This is my first fiberglass kit so im not sure what to expect or how to deal, but this is a great place to learn!

Can the OD of the centering rings be trimmed to fit within the tube or am I better off getting new rings?

If they can be trimmed, what are the appropriate tools?

If they need to be replaced, can plywood rings be used?

Does CA work well for tacking things in place for fit ups?

Any guidance is appreciated!

They can be sanded or ground using any number of tools. If grinding, use grinding stones or carbide and be wary of the dust. They can also be tacked in place with CA but should be epoxied for strength. You should sand the joints for a good bond. And yes, you can use plywood rings as well. I use a combo of both in my FG builds.

That ring cannot be the right one for that tube. A 10mm difference in diameter is way off. At most you should need a touch of sanding. I'd suggest contacting WM.

Thanks for the heads up everyone! Good to know it can be adjusted and how, but I’ll go for a replacement for these.

Tim accidently gave you a 2.5 inch centering ring instead of a 2.125 . Just call him and I'm sure new appropriate sizes rings will be shipped out for free.
