The Tri Cities Rocketeers will be holding our next launch on Saturday August 13, 2016. We will have a 10,000 foot waiver in place limited to L impulse open from 10am-4pm.

If you plan to fly an L motor, we would ask that you provide sim data that will show us that the rocket will not break the waiver.

We have implemented a new liability waiver policy for 2016. All event attendees (flyers and spectators, including children) must now have a signed liability waiver on file. These waivers will be good for our “fiscal” year (April 1st through March 31st).
You can download the waiver here: https://www.tricitiesrocketeers.org/tcr-liability-waiver-form.html

Please also note some minor changes to our safety policies as well. You can read them here: https://www.tricitiesrocketeers.org/tcr-enhanced-safety-measures.html

Dry camping is allowed at our site if you would like to come early. Here is an overhead view of our site with camping area marked: https://www.tricitiesrocketeers.org/birds-eye-view-of-the-range.html
I have also added a new page on our website with our "address" to aid in locating our launch site here: https://www.tricitiesrocketeers.org/launch-site-directions.html

Since the weather has been so hot and dry as of late, we have decided to not allow sparky motors or untested, marginally stable rockets in order to minimize the chances of fire.

Please keep an eye on our website and the mailing lists for launch updates. No news is good news, which means I will only make a cancellation announcement if poor weather is expected. If the launch is cancelled, the announcement will be made at least 24 hours in advance.

If you would like to become a TCR member, it only costs $10.00 for a single membership and $20.00 for a family membership. All proceeds go towards maintaining and improving the equipment necessary to provide a better launch experience.

The Tri Cities Rocketeers will be holding our next launch on Saturday September 17, 2016.

This launch was originally scheduled to be a two-day event on both the 17th and 18th, but because of some scheduling conflicts among the key TCR members, we are forced to reduce the launch to only one day... sort of. Dave King will be setting up the range Friday afternoon sometime after 2:00 pm, so if you would like to come early, there will be an opportunity to fly FAR 101 on Friday afternoon and evening. Sorry for any inconvenience that might cause, but we have no other choice.

We will have a 10,000 foot waiver in place limited to L impulse open from 10am-4pm.

Just a heads up for fliers planning to attend this weekends launch, the weather has changed rapidly on us from 0% rain and 5-10mph winds to 60% chance of rain and 15-25mph winds. In an effort to save those have to travel long distances we will make a decision by tomorrow (Sept 15) on whether we will be able to hold the launch this weekend. For those of you who are familiar with the weather in the Columbia Basin we tend to get the winds on the upper side of predictions, rain usually isn't much of an issue as its usually scattered showers type rain. Please keep an eye on our website and/or Forum for a possible cancellation of this weekends launch.

Due to the unfavorable weather forecast of high winds and continuing dry conditions, the TCR September 2016 launch is cancelled. We wished that the conditions would allow us to fly, but we feel that with the high winds, and continuing dry conditions and fire danger we feel this is the best course of action.

Note: The decision on Sparky motors is usually made at the meeting prior to the launch, we may or may not allow sparkies at the October launch. The announcement above is cut and pasted from our regular club announcement.

Still looking promising, the monthly BOD and club meeting will be on Tuesday at 6pm at Brickhouse Pizza in West Richland, WA.

Due to predicted poor weather conditions, 90% chance of rain, and 15-20 mph winds, the Tri Cities Rocketeers October Launch has been cancelled.

We do have one more scheduled launch this year, November 12th, so we will hope for better weather then.

For those unfamiliar with our local conditions, the Friday before and the Sunday after are calling for 15-25mph winds with gusts to 40mph, rarely to we get winds at the lower end of whatever range the weather gives, so 10-20 is usually 20+.

Note: The decision on Sparky motors is usually made at the meeting prior to the launch, given the wet weather in Eastern Washington over the last two weeks I don't forsee any issues with Sparky motors. The announcement above is cut and pasted from our regular club announcement.

Edit: TriCities Rocketeers will be holding our next launch on November 5th,2016 from 10am to 5pm this is a change to a week earlier from our original lauch date of Novemeber 12th. We are hoping for good weather this next weekend and if we don't get it the November 12th date hopefully will allow us a makeup launch, there was also at least one other launch that was on the original date. We really hope to get in one more good launch this year as November is our last scheduled launch.

I would like to thank all of the fliers who attended today's launch, for those who didn't you missed some of the best weather ever. The day started foggy, but by 10:30-ish we were flying a few saucers, and by 1130-ish it was full on LPR/MPR/HPR action. The winds were averaging 3mph AGL and the winds above 2k were a bit breezy, we ended the day with only two lost rockets AFAIK, one to the rocket eating cornfield north and east of our launch site (its silage and still not harvested), and one an Extreme 12 on an E12 to E12 staging that was never seen again shortly after it staged. We had flights for motors of every letter from A to L (except for K). Frank Burke put up a great flight from his 7.5" Redstone missle on a L1000W DMS, and with the extremely light winds the smoke kind of hovered around the pad and then slowly drifted off. Frank also put up a number of his gliders all on E6 RC reloads, we got to see the Avro Arrow, F-104, F-105, F-16 (a couple of flights by the F-16), he also flew his Pershing missle. We had some great flights by Jim and Larry from Western Washington together they probably flew half of all the MPR and HPR flights of the day. Our local club fliers put up some great models by Fliskits, Loc, Estes, custom scratch builds (the Firewolf was probably my favorite scratch built).

Glad to hear you had a good one. It was/is WET over here on the other side of the mountains.

We did miss you and your wife today, check out the clubs website as we should be posting next years launch schedule soon. We may also have a pick-up/flex launch sometime in the next couple of months.

Really bummed I was at work for this one. I imagine my L2 project will be ready by the time I can make your next event.

That should be Feb or March 2017, we should be posting next years schedule soon. Stay tuned as we may hold pickup launches as the weather permits over the next couple of months.
