I'd like to hear what you use for tracking your high power flights that eat up some altitude.

Big Red Bee transmitter with a stubby duck antenna in the air, and an Icom HT with an Arrow 3 el 2m/7 el 435mHz antenna on the ground.

We have tall grass and shrubs everywhere around our field. Land more than 50-100 yards from the pad and you could be standing next to you rocket and perhaps not see it. We strongly recommend "personal alarm" beepers to all of our LPR and HPR flyers. We even try to keep a supply on hand for flyers to purchase (at cost). The beepers have been very effective as an aid to recoverying rockets, even when the landing site has been a considerable distance from the pad. Radio tracking or GPS might be nice but we've never had to try them - the beepers work so well.
