Tip to tip lamination question

I have never done this before and know enough to know that I haven't yet gathered enough information to do this myself yet. I am writing today to ask for tips. I have a 98mm mongoose that I want to reinforce with a carbon/ Kevlar lamination. I have seen people do with and without the vacuum bag. The vacuum bags looks very complicated so I would certainly appreciate some tips. One last thing: for a new guy, would it be easier to use a 4" sock for the body and do the fins before I mount them ( as opposed to wrapping the premounted fin assembly)?
