Has anyone ever located some suitably dimensioned drawings of the THUNDERBIRD spachips from the Gerry Andersen show?

I did a search on the forum and only found one dead thread concerning the subject. I figure with the new movie coming out, maybe someone has had some luck.

I know there is nothing on the web I've been looking as I want to make a thunderbird3 .
I found a few pics but nothing with dimensions.
I've been looking in local boot sales and on ebay for a model of t/bird3.
If I come across anything I will post it here.

Wow! Past the Thunderbird stuff is a Space 1999 section. The Eagle Transporter would be a cool PMC. Was a suitable kit ever produced?

I haven't printed them out and looked at them with an eye toward powering them, but check this web site out:

He's got paper models of both the TB1 and TB3 - I can't imagine that they couldn't be adapted to rockets.

Gerry Anderson developed these shows and a few more that skip my mind at the moment:

Fireball XL5
Thunderbirds
Captain Scarlet
Secret Service
UFO
Space 1999

Some shows like Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds were done with "Supermarianation", others like UFO and Space 1999 had live actors but still used lots of models for special effects.

I've been wanting to build a TB3 for some time...I have lots of pics to do a semi-scale rocket. I have to decide on a bt size to start with.

Stability could be an issue too.

Someone had a pic of one - D powered - on EMRR ; one of the contests....wish I could get ahold of that guy!

I think one of the guys at HART built one and there's a video in the video gallery there. You could try sending them an e-mail and asking where they got plans.

Just found something have a look at https://www.petesrockets.co.uk/literature/spaceship.shtml it says the Space Ship handbook contains Data sheets for TB1, 3 and 5.

I don't know, the acting in Space:1999 was awful wooden. But the Eagles ROCKED. I believe that Centuri produced an Eagle kit back in the day, but i don't know anything else about it.

The new "Thunderbirds" movie is directed by Jonathan Frakes, Commander Riker of ST:TNG fame.

And the actors include Bill Paxton, Anthony Edwards and Ben Kingsley! But the special effects of the various Thunderbird ships (especially #2) really rock!!!

I'm really looking forward to this one!

You're right about the acting. The writing was on about the same par, especially from what I've seen of the second season.

I have a Centuri Eagle kit still in the package. It looks like one big hunk of blow molded stuff, basically a funny shaped bleach bottle. If it looked better, I'd open it up and build it.

The Eagles on the show were nice looking. If you've ever watched UFO, you will definately see that the show had a heavy influence on many of the 1999 props, and both shows were influenced heavily by the models and dioramas from Thunderbirds. I bet many of the same artists and craftsmen were used on all of his shows.

My wife got my copy from Amazon for my Christmas present. I wish she had let me know so we could have purchased it within the rocketry community, but I didn't know I was getting it.

It does. I've built a TB3 from the drawings. It's not quite finished, nor radiator fins, not painted, but here it is on it's test flight:

Could you provide a few details or advice for any of us that may want to tackle this project for ourselves? For example - is it built with 24mm motor mount, what size body tubes, etc? And please keep posting pics as you get her completed!

Main body diameters are 80, 106 and 151mm. The body is all made from mailing tubes and the like. The biggest compromise is with the pods. They're straight rather than being rounded.

It landed rather heavily on a single 34" chute first time out, so I'll have to get a bigger chute or double up for the next flight. I've already repaired most of the damage.

I'm writing an article about it, so I'll post a link when it's all done.
