And as a bit of personal trivia, my late father-in-law was one of the radar trackers on that particular NF-104A flight by General Yeager. Because of the location of their site at Edwards, a low hill blocked the view of the low altitude ejection and it was a fair amount of time before they found out their friend and co-worker had actually survived.
