Nytrunner
Pop lugs, not drugs
I flew back for a wedding to my home region the Rio Grande Valley (southernmost 4 counties of Texas, no not El Paso.....) and in the airport was a nice little display of obscure national history that is relavant to my hobby. I thought I'd share for the community.
The pictures tell the story but I'll summarize. Early rocketry and aviation interests in the 1930s sparked the idea of some entrepenuring folks to attempt swift cross-river mail delivery between Mexico and the US (about an hour from where I grew up) via....rocket! The results were not promising, but they made great souvenirs that can still be found today in collections.
And a bonus picture of an early airplane that's hanging in the terminal.
