I kinda wish that had been a positive article in a more reputable publication, but I guess it's still not bad. I didn't want to give them any info or support, so I wasn't able to read it. If you think I am being silly, look up who owns that paper and form your own opinion.

Maybe I need a VPN for something like this. I could have a fictional persona that was completely different from me.

All you had to do was view it in a secured browser.

I thought it was a fairly well written article. There were a few "what?" parts, but less so than others I've seen written by those unfamiliar with rocketry.

The most eye opening part for me was:

"Hobby model rocketry is a fast-growing industry, earning $100 billion in 2023 and projected to reach $648 billion by 2030, according to commercial analyst Verified Market Reports."

Hundreds of billions and a projection to grow 6.5x by 2030? I'm pretty sure they're referring to the actual space industry.

Also how can they keep saying "born-again rocketeer" without noting "BAR"? 😆

Wow, very interesting background! Not sure how I feel about it though since I am definitely anti-communist, but I also don't like cults lol

Regardless, I felt the article was informative, well written, interesting and unbiased. It seems to promote the hobby well.

Good article accept I didn't like the line, “Some make their fuel but it’s a special area of the hobby,” and riskier, he said. “I’ve grown attached to my fingers.”

Making BP motors which I personally don't know anyone who does though likely fireworks people may do it, but APCP mixing is relatively safe.
Shoot, I saw a picture of Gary Rosenfield one time walking around with an ashtray made of APCP for his cigar! He proved it by attaching an igniter to it
to burn it.
Also heard rumors of folks tossing a lit cigarette in to a freshly (wet) mixed batch of APCP and the cigarette went out. Cured APCP takes a high temp igniter to get it going.

It's the same bogus report cited by the article about the Aerotech grand opening. I pity the fool who pays "Verified Market Reports" for any of their "reports."

Total nonsense, as I am sure you have already concluded. Just as a fun FYI comparison, total revenue for the NFL and all of their 32 independent teams runs about $20 billion a year.

I concur. There was a dealer at a launch today, but there was absolutely no gold plating on his trailer or truck. Perhaps a little bit on some of the electrical parts, though.
