My brother and I bought this rocket kit in 1992. My brother did paint it white with the red nose cone, but for some reason I decided to give the Initiator this monstrosity paint job. (What was I thinking?) Anyway, it's time to bring this back to it's former glory. I got new decals and time to start sanding.

Started on the sanding, boy is there a lot of dust, which is why I'm sanding outside. I'm using 220 grit sandpaper, I want to take my time with the sanding and not be to aggressive. The other colors I see while sanding are white primer, grey primer, red paint, white paint and the blue and orange that I'm sanding off.

The same color scheme as the picture, red nose cone, white airframe and fins

Done sanding the rocket except the motor mount end.

I haven't done much work on the initiator since my last post, I got busy at work and was on vacation, I got a little more sanding to do on the motor end of the rocket and then I can start painting.

Finally got the first coat of primer on the nose cone and rocket, going to let it dry a few days then it's time for some wet sanding then a second coat of primer.

How serendipity! Just yesterday, I was talking to Initiator001, the chap that designed this bird. I was telling him how perfect these were as a teaching aide. Big enuff to see in the back of the classroom and compact to fit in the car with the demo materials. How cool you still have yours from 1992! Steady on, looks like it lives to fly another day! Straight smoke and good chutes. Thx for posting.

I would like to get the Mega Initiator, it's just not in the cards right now.

Here it is, this came out better then I could imagine. I'll be putting this up on an Aerotech classic F-67.

I think I bought my original Initiator back in 1998 or 1999 maybe. It was my first mid-power rocket AND the first rocket I ever flew on a reloadable motor.
I bought my Mega when they first came out, but don't remember exactly when.
Both fly great!
