oh cool, you're doing the white edging bit on the fins. hope it turns out well. nice job on the nose, please feel free to post more photos, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks! The detailing on the fins worked fairly well, however would definitely have benefited from filling and sanding the balsa first as the colour managed to blead under the tape a little. The overall appearance is pleasing however when you take a few steps back to launch it.

as I understand it one trick to preventing paint from 'bleeding' under the tape, is to apply the tape then seal the edge with an application of the base colour over the tape, allow to dry then apply the desired colour, the sealing paint may bleed but will less visible than a contrasting color. methinks we all have one or more rockets with a stand off paint job :). a really good paint job may only require 1 - 2' of stand off to look good. I have several 10' rockets(generally happy if they look good at under 6')
