My Telemega doesn't show up on AltOS under device selection when I try to open the Monitor Flight or Configure Altimeter tabs. I have a Telemega V6.0 and am running the latest AltOS software, and I have gotten it to connect previously using the same USB cable. I suspect it's an issue with the USB port on the Telemega because it has its normal starting up beeps and green light when the battery is plugged in. It did appear in the list of devices for a split second when I wiggled the USB cable around, but I have not been able to replicate that. I'd love any advice or potential solutions anyone has!

Try a different USB cable that you know has the data lines in it.

Most often, when you wiggle it and it makes a connection it's the cable that's the problem. Though it is possible that the solder joints for the USB connector have failed.

Trying another device with the same cable, as well as another cable with the same TeleMega will help you isolate the issue.

Several Altus Metrum devices reported here showed this failure.
I'm not saying they haven't had bad units, but I've also seen a lot of users for whom the problem came down to a bad cable.

It's worth testing to confirm that the cable isn't the source of the issue.

If you haven't gotten it working yet, remember that the TeleMega (as do any Altus Metrum products that have an accelerometer) has to be horizontal to enter into 'idle' mode when powered on to talk to the computer. And regarding cables, at BALLS I tried 5 different micro USB cables to get data off a Raven 4, but none worked. When I got home and tried the one I had labeled as a known good cable and it fired right up. I've also had a USB terminal get bent when the cable was pulled upwards and it now is a challenge to get good continuous contact with some cables, but others work a more reliably.

Hopefully you've gotten it resolved. Let us know what it was so we can file it away for troubleshooting the next time.

That's me. He's talking about me.

Really, verify that your cable is a data cable. I struggled for a year (off and on, mostly off), then finally picked up a data cable from Micro Center. Click, configure, program. Done.

Now my issue is getting things to talk over the air, but that's a different story.

I will second (third) the cable thing. Even when you think you have a good "data" rated USB cable, it may not work with Altus. I think I went through 10 cables before I found a good one. Like Tony I have my Altus cables clearly labeled. Cables being plural, yes there is a back up and a back up to the back up LOL.

Ghosted again. The OP hasn’t been back since he posted, likely figured it out and will never be back to let us know.

As long as he gets the info he needed, that's what matters most.

Last seen less than an hour after they made their post. You made yours the next day, so unless they came back without signing in, it's likely they never saw it or the others. Probably figured it out and never came back. While no one is really obligated to report back I do find it very bothersome that so many new users looking for help don't let us know what the issue was, which could help with future troubleshooting.

Even if OP doesn't come back, the possibility exists that someone else will benefit from the discussion.

I tried four different cables and had the same issue for all of them. I was also able to use the original cable to connect to a TeleMini, so I don't think the cable is the issue

Tony.
Sorry for the delay in responding, but I really do appreciate the advice! Since my account is new, my post needed to be approved first and my notifications weren't working, so I didn't see the responses as I was exploring other options. I'm still experiencing the problem but am communicating with Bdale from AltusMetrum about sending it back for analysis

Thank you for taking the time to come and post! Very helpful to know that it was a problem with the unit and not a cable this time. (And thanks for explaining the delay as well – I'll keep that in mind from now on.)

Good luck and I hope you are able to get it fixed quickly.

Yep, that rules out the cable.

Bdale will get you taken care of, I'm sure.
