50 years ago, when I first saw the Cherokee in the Estes catalog, I thought it was based on a "real" rocket like the WAC Corporal, Honest John, Aeorobee, etc. I believed that until today when I decided to ask Google about it and was surprised to find out from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherokee_(rocket) that the "real" Cherokee rocket was a B29-launched ejection seat test platform that looked nothing like the model.

From https://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/app4/cherokee.html:

Looking back at the old Estes catalogs¹, it wasn't in the "Scale Models" section, so I have no idea why I thought that it was a model of a real-life rocket.

¹ Kudos to Estes for making scanned versions of all the old catalogs available for download.
