Probably the different surface chemistry, the anodizing, and not anything to do with the grade of the steel. My surprise is the either of them rusted that fast while isolated from the air.
It's the black one that reacted... It had that coating they put on steel bolts, not anodize. That was the other side that didn't react.

This came out much better than I thought it wood (see what I did there?); but will it fly?
The way I am planning mine, I'm almost positive it'll fly without issue because I'm using the upper and lower body "panels" as fins, and also using the ends of the motor pods much like you've done. So, should be enough fin area for a medium sized rocket. I've done dumber rockets than this....

Oh ye of little faith... it'll fly just fine.

Got a build thread?

Co-Pilot Droid

I used a piece of 3/4" pine dowel to turn the R2-D2 droid, then used a Forstner bit to cut thru the cardboard body tube.
Your Co-Pilot, Your Buddy, Your Sidekick. Don't leave home without him... he's got your six.

Primer, Day 1: Red Oxide Rustoleum

I’m picking up a strong Jawa vibe here.

@mbeels did this with yellow then red then brown then sanding.

In hindsight, I should have done the colors the other way around, with yellow on top, and the rusty/metal colors on the bottom. I did find that a fine steel wool did a good job of removing the paint by layers, instead of just scraping it all off.

Sooooo, what happened at the cripple creek mine?
It was the Molly Kathleen Mine, a tourist mine. The elevator quit while there were 20 ish people in the mine. A tour guide died, then near the end of the day they got the elevator to work and they brought the folk up.
They have yet to say what the tour guide died from.?
